The Most Bizarre Plotlines On Bold And The Beautiful

Soap operas are meant to be exaggerated tales of the human condition, with each plot examining love, life, and family in dramatic ways meant to catch viewers' attention and keep them coming back for more. That means bizarre plotlines you'd never expect to see in real life are bound to turn up every once in a while, keeping our jaws dropped and our interest piqued. "The Bold and the Beautiful" is no stranger to these unusual stories and has told several over its more than three decades on the air.

From tales of mistaken identity to entertaining — and sometimes amusing — kidnappings gone terribly wrong, "B&B" knows how to tell interesting stories that leave fans gasping as they're anxious to see what happens next and the consequences that will remain on the show for years to come. Take a walk down memory lane and look back on some of the soap's most unusual plotlines ever.

Brooke accidentally sleeps with Hope's boyfriend

The long-misunderstood heroine of "The Bold and the Beautiful," Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang), just wants to find love, and she's usually looking for it with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). That doesn't mean that she hasn't found both love and lust in the most unusual of places. However, when she slept with her teenage daughter's boyfriend, she was actually looking for Ridge.

Brooke thought she was being the cool mom throwing a masquerade party when Hope Logan (then played by Kimberly Matula) graduated high school, and she had no idea that was the night Hope planned to sleep with her boyfriend, Oliver (Zack Conroy), for the first time. Brooke also made plans for her own rendezvous with Ridge (then played by Ronn Moss), but she didn't expect Ridge and Oliver to be wearing the same exact jacket from Forrester Creations.

Perhaps Brooke also should not have worn the same dress as Hope because when she thought she was meeting Ridge in a clandestine location, it turned out to be Oliver waiting for Hope. Of course, neither Oliver nor Brooke realized what happened until it was too late. Needless to say, this created a rift between mother and daughter, but they eventually got over it and as of this writing, Hope is trying to cover for her mother after she accidentally kissed another man who wasn't Ridge.

Quinn kidnaps Liam to her own Garden of Eden

For a time, Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) seemed to be the most overbearing mother on soaps. All she ever wanted was for her son to get the girl, even if that son was a grown man who could fend for himself. When Wyatt Spencer (Darrin Brooks) wanted Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), Quinn knew she had to get Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) out of the way, so she knocked Liam unconscious and dragged him to a remote cabin in the woods. When he came to, she was shocked to learn he had amnesia, so Quinn realized she could keep Liam captive without him even knowing what was going on.

That's when she told him that her name was Eve, his name was Adam, and they were married. Liam essentially shrugged and said "OK" before proceeding to live as man and wife with this woman in Quinn's own little Garden of Eden. Quinn had done some other unusual things in the past but this was definitely the pièce de résistance in terms of how far she'd go. However, she didn't expect to fall for Liam. When he finally did get his memory back, he reunited with Steffy and Quinn was left heartbroken.

Thomas thinks a mannequin is Hope

Thomas Forrester had spent nearly two years obsessed with Hope Logan and wanted her any way he could get her — and that included letting her believe her baby had died so she'd seek comfort from him and not her husband, Liam. When she plainly rejected him after learning what he did and returned to Liam, Thomas tried to get his act together. However, his mind started playing tricks on him when he spotted a mannequin at Forrester Creations that was the spitting image of Hope.

That's when Thomas took the mannequin home and started dressing her up in clothing from the Hope for the Future fashion line. He even began to date her and cook dinner for two in his apartment, setting her up in a chair at his kitchen table. Things really got bizarre when he started hearing the mannequin talk to him, telling him that she wanted him and that he had to get Liam out of the way. As this story came to a close, it turned out that Thomas had a brain injury that led to all his obsessions and delusions. After undergoing surgery, he emerged a new man determined to make up for all the harm he had caused.
