What We Know About The Chad Duell And Courtney Hope Split
Fans of "General Hospital" star Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos) and CBS soap star Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra on "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful") watched the pair enjoy what seemed to be a perfect off-screen romance via social media, announcing they were engaged in February 2021.
"Yesterday was a good day," Hope wrote alongside photos of herself and Duell with a beautiful engagement (via Soap Hub). "Forever with this man is a dream come true."
Duell also posted the same set of photos on his own Instagram account, saying, "I'm one lucky dude."
Soon after the engagement, Hope told People about how Duell proposed. He read me the most beautiful poem, because I love poetry, and I started choking up," Hope said. "He then told me to close my eyes and turn the other way 'cause he had to 'set something up.' Then he comically fumbled behind me to distract me from what he was really doing — and when I turned around, he was on his knee."
All was great. But soon all engagement posts were deleted from both of their accounts.
Chad Duell and Courtney Hope marry and quickly split up
In October 2021, Chad Duell and Courtney Hope appeared to take their vows in a lavish wedding with a Steampunk theme, with the bride and groom dressed in black and red, as well as their myriad of soap star guests, according to People.
Now, the photos from their wedding appear to be deleted from their social media accounts.
By December 13, Soap Opera Digest reported that Duell and Hope had called it quits, shocking their fans, as well as their family, and friends. However, neither one of them gave any reason for the sudden split so soon after their unique wedding.
By early 2022, Duell finally opened up about the breakup on "Maurice Benard: State of Mind," a YouTube show that "General Hospital" star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) hosts each Sunday. He interviews anyone from fellow soap stars to friends and family, often discussing their personal life experiences, as well as mental health issues (via YouTube).
Chad Duell gives a puzzling answer to what really happened with Courtney Hope
On the January 30, 2022 installment of "State of Mind," Chad Duell spoke about his breakup with Courtney Hope and had nothing but flattering things to say about the woman he had been with since 2016.
"Out of respect to her, I am not going to delve into all of this stuff. All I will say is that she is an amazing person, an amazing woman," Duell said. "She's an amazing dog mom. It is a complicated situation and it's not what everybody thinks ... There wasn't anything terrible that happened or nothing that anybody did to somebody else. We are still on good terms and she is an amazing person in so many ways ... All I have to say is positive things."
He then seemed to indicate that he and Hope weren't really wed at all, which left many fans scratching their heads. "We didn't sign anything, we weren't really, like, you know, married or anything, really," Duell said. "It was amicable, kind of just that. And that's all I can really say. We always want the best for each other."
