The Special Touch Jonathan Owens Added To Simone Biles' Engagement Ring

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens added their own sweetness to Valentine's Day by announcing their engagement on February 15, 2022. Their love story began in March 2020 when they connected via Instagram. Despite Biles' dominant status as the United States' most decorated gymnast, Owens told Texas Monthly that he was unfamiliar with her fame. In the Facebook Watch Docuseries, "Simone vs Herself," Owens said, "Her work ethic was really the first thing that caught my eye." He was stunned to discover that she was that Simone Biles (per Insider).

An athlete himself, Owens started playing in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 and is currently a safety for the Houston Texans. Besides having athletics in common, Biles and Owens share a love of dogs. According to Elle, Owens has an Instagram account for his English bulldog, and Biles has an account for her two French bulldogs.

Over the course of their relationship, Biles and Owens have demonstrated mutual support and understanding. Biles has posted messages of love and support during Owens' football games, and visited him on the field during practices (per People). Owens showed strong support for Biles during her difficult decision to withdraw from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Posting on Instagram, Owens said that her "strength and courage is unmatched."

Earlier in their relationship, Owens told Texas Monthly that it's "a match made in heaven." "There's no better person for me. She loves me, she's so affectionate. I just love that," he said, and now more information is coming out about the couple's special engagement.

Simone Biles' oval diamond ring has a halo for extra sparkle

For his proposal, Jonathan Owens set out to wow Simone Biles with a stunning ring designed by Zo Frost. According to Page Six, the Houston-based jeweler has worked with high-profile clients before like Drake and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Frost and Owens have been clients and friends for a few years. Frosts says that he and Owens collaborated on the design and began working a few months ago "to select the perfect diamond for Simone that was handpicked by Jonathan." Frost told Page Six that Biles' ring features a three-carat oval-cut diamond with F color and VVS2 clarity. According to The Diamond Pro, D, E, and F diamonds are classified as "colorless," with only an expert gemologist being able to tell the difference between grades.

After selecting the gorgeous stone, Owens made an additional design request: he wanted a halo around the oval diamond for even more sparkle. Halo designs feature additional smaller diamonds that make the center stone look even bigger and accentuate the ring's brilliance (per Raymond Lee Jewelers).

A scintillating micropavé pave band maximizes the shine of Biles' ring. StyleCaster asked some experts to estimate the cost of this dazzling ring. Jenny Luker, president of Platinum Guild International USA, estimated $325,000. Mark Broumand, jewelry designer, estimated $300,000. Broumand also commented that oval diamonds are "modern, sophisticated, and super brilliant!"
