Simone Biles And Jonathan Owens Share Happy Relationship News

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles first met Houston Texans safety, Jonathan Owens, on the dating app Raya in March 2020. Proving that she is just as fearless in her dating life as she is on the mat, Biles admits that she was the one to message Owens first. "He would say I slid into his DMs," Biles told the The Wall Street Journal in July 2021. "I saw him and I was like, 'Oh, he's pretty cute,' so I said hi. And then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later."

Though the summer Olympics were set to take place in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the games to be delayed until the summer of 2021, which gave Biles more free time to get to know Owens and deepen their relationship. "It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn't do anything," Owens told Texas Monthly in June 2021. "So we used it to get to know each other — really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger."

After Biles withdrew from the team's all-around finals and individual all-around competition at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Owens shared his heartfelt support of his girlfriend. "Imma ride with you through whatever baby," Owens wrote in an Instagram post. ... You always gone be my champ baby and don't you ever forget that, i love you so much and i can't wait till you come home."

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are officially engaged

On Tuesday, in separate posts on Instagram, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens revealed that they were officially engaged. "THE EASIEST YES," Biles captioned a series of photos on Instagram that showed Owens popping the question on one knee and Biles reacting to her ring and her new fiancé. "I can't wait to spend forever & ever with you, you're everything I dreamed of and more! let's get married FIANCÉ..." Owens commented on her post, saying, "Ready for forever with you."

"Woke up this morning with a fiancée," Owens captioned his own Instagram post, while also revealing that Biles had no idea that he was going to propose to her.

While sitting down with "Today" anchor Hoda Kotb, Biles revealed why the pair were meant to be. "He's a real man," Biles said on the show in January 2021. "I just, I love him. We have a great time together."

She added, "Our personalities match right up. We have the same sense of humor. And he's just great. He's an athlete, too, so we really understand each other and I think that's why our relationship has been seamless."
