This Bold And The Beautiful Star Was A Guest Judge At The Miss Universe Pageant

Rena Sofer has been a fixture on daytime television for more than 20 years. She got her start on "Another World" and spent three years on "Loving" before joining "General Hospital" in 1994 as Brooklyn-born Lois Cerullo. The actress won a Daytime Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series just one year later (per Soap Central).

Sofer left GH in 1997 and kept busy with recurring roles on shows including "Melrose Place," "24," "Ed," "NCIS," and "Heroes" (per IMDb). But she came back to her soap opera roots in 2013 as Quinn on "The Bold and the Beautiful." For Sofer, the decision was an easy one as it allowed her to focus more on her two daughters, Rosabel Rosalind and Avalon Leone. "The production schedule of this show is better than any other," Sofer told Michael Fairman TV. "So, it has really allowed me to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom; which is the best thing that I could have ever asked for. The thing that I love the most about this show is that it allowed me to be everything that I wanted to be personally and professionally. Being a part of this show is just such a gift because it's iconic, and people love it, and I've loved being a part of it."

In fact, one of the opportunities the show's schedule afforded Sofer is the chance to be a guest judge for the Miss Universe Pageant.

Rena Sofer traveled to Israel to judge the competition

Rena Sofer served as a celebrity judge at the Miss Universe Pageant in December 2021. The show, which was hosted by Steve Harvey, was held in Eliat, Israel. Sofer judged the contestants alongside Lori Harvey, Adamari Lopez, Iris Mittenaere, Urvashi Rautela, Adriana Lima, Cheslie Kryst, and Marian Rivera. Carson Kressley was the backstage host for the competition, with Harnaaz Sandhu of India ultimately taking home the crown (per Cheat Sheet).

"Carson Kressley is just so much fun!!" Sofer wrote on Instagram. "[Adriana Lima] was so nice and really great to sit next to during the show. She kept me calm during voting! [Paula Shugart, president of Miss Universe] is so wonderful. She loves what she does and @missuniverse is so important to her. I'm so grateful that she asked me to be a part of this amazing show!"

And Sofer is expanding her career beyond the entertainment world. She launched her own ceramics business and is donating 10% of her sales to animal rescue organizations. "As I became more studied in ceramics I found my own voice in my work and realized that I can marry my three passions for good," she wrote on her website. "With acting, ceramics and animal rescue, I have felt fulfilled in my second phase of life and I want to share that with you."
