How Mary Beth Evans Has Changed Since Her Debut On Days Of Our Lives

Mary Beth Evans was first seen on "Days of Our Lives" in 1986 when she was cast as Kayla Brady, the youngest child of Shawn Brady Sr., and his wife, Caroline. Evans took over the role from Catherine Mary Stuart, who portrayed the role for a year, per Soap Central.

Alongside her parents, who ran the Brady Pub, and her siblings, Roman, Bo, and Kimberly, Kayla was a part of one of the most beloved families in Salem. Kayla took an interest in medicine and began working as a nurse at Salem University Hospital. She later became one of the most well-respected doctors in the fictional town.

When Kayla returned home to set up a clinic, she met and fell in love with Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), the friend of her older brother, Bo Brady (Peter Reckell). The two quickly became a fan-favorite couple, and have been delighting viewers for decades. Kayla's life has been anything but easy. She and Steve have had their share of ups and downs. She's also been kidnapped, imprisoned, and accused of murder.

In reality, Evans thankfully leads a much simpler life than her on-screen alter ego.

Mary Beth Evans started her own business after debuting on DOOL

Since her initial debut on "Days of Our Lives," Mary Beth Evans has appeared in movies like "American Coffee" and "The Sinister Surrogate." She's also appeared on television shows such as "This Just In," "Chasing Life," "Body of Proof," "The Bay," "Criminal Minds," and "Monk" (via Bing). She also worked on other soap operas such as "General Hospital," where she played the character Katherine Bell, and "As The World Turns," where she landed the role of Sierra Montgomery. In 2006 she took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress on a Drama Series for her role as Kayla on "DOOL," per Soap Hub.

Since her debut on "Days of Our Lives," Evans has also raised a family with her husband Michael Schwartz. The pair share two sons, Daniel and Matthew, as well as a daughter named Katherine. However, the actress hasn't limited herself to movies and television. She's also explored her passions. In 2005, Evans started her very own apple pie company using a version of her family's recipe. She also launched her very own lifestyle blog titled Plank, in 2015.

It seems that Evans is very busy with her work on "DOOL," as well as being a mother, wife, and entrepreneur. She really does seem to be able to do it all, much like Kayla Brady.
