Meet Bridgerton's Newest Actor, Rupert Evans

During Season 1 of Netflix's "Bridgerton," fans didn't see much about the siblings' late father, Edmund Bridgerton. Viewers were told that the family's patriarch had died, and that their mother, Violet, was absolutely heartbroken by the loss. However, Season 2 of the hit Netflix series is set to go into more detail about the character for fans who haven't read the book series.

According to Deadline, Edmund is described as being a very loving and devoted husband to Violet, as well as a kind father to their eight children. The character reportedly had a very special bond with his oldest son, Anthony. Since Season 2 of the show will focus heavily on Anthony's life, fans will also see the great impact that the loss of his father had on him. Anthony, who was just 18 years-old at the time of his father's death, then went on to become the man of the family, being named the Viscount.

"Bridgerton" fans will now finally get to meet Edmund as he'll be featured in scenes with actor Rupert Evans in the role.

Fans will meet Edmund Bridgerton in Season 2

Deadline reports that Rupert Evans has been cast as Edmund Bridgerton, father of the eight lovable Bridgerton siblings for Season 2 of Shonda Rhimes' wildly popular Netflix series. If the actor looks familiar, it may be because fans have seen him in television roles like Frank Frink on "The Man in the High Castle," as well as Harry Greenwood on the CW's series "Charmed." He's also had parts in films such as "The Boy," "American Pastoral," "Tank 432," and more (via IMDb).

Evans' character will presumably be seen in flashbacks during "Bridgerton" Season 2, per TVLine. In addition, viewers may also get to see the tragic circumstances surrounding Edmund's death, as in the book series he passed away due to an allergic reaction from a bee sting. During the Season 1 finale of "Bridgerton," fans saw a bee flying around, which hinted at the appearance of Edmund in the show's sophomore season.

Fans will get to see Evans step into the role as he tells Edmund's story when "Bridgerton" Season 2 premieres on Netflix on March 25, per Buzzfeed.
