Cassie Randolph Revealed How She Found Out About Colton Underwood's Sexuality

When Colton Underwood came out as gay, during an emotional "Good Morning America" interview (via Twitter), the move was widely heralded as brave and empowering. The former Bachelor told host Robin Roberts, "I'm gay. And I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it." He added, "I'm the happiest and healthiest I've ever been in my life."

As People reported at the time, Underwood also took a moment to express his regret for going on the hit dating show in the first place, and misleading the women who were vying for his heart. In particular, the former football played apologized to ex-fiancé Cassie Randolph. "I would like to say sorry for how things ended. I messed up," he said. "I made a lot of bad choices."

However, Underwood maintained that he was genuinely in love with Randolph, sharing, "If I'm being very honest, I loved everything about her. And it's hard for me to articulate exactly what my emotions were going through that relationship with her, because I obviously had an internal fight going on." Although the couple ended the show together, they notably didn't get engaged.

After dating for around a year, things went sour when Randolph obtained a restraining order against Underwood for allegedly stalking her. It was subsequently dropped, after the former couple came to a "private agreement," and Randolph evidently wanted to move on with her life. Considering how she discovered her former fiancé was gay, her position is completely understandable.

Cassie Randolph learned the truth alongside everyone else

Page Six reports that, during a recent interview on former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe's podcast, "Off the Vine," Cassie Randolph revealed she didn't get a heads up from former fiancé Colton Underwood when he was preparing to come out to the world. "I found out the same way that everyone else did," Randolph confirmed. She continued, "I was actually in Mexico on vacation with friends, which was great to be away, but yeah, I found out through Snapchat on 'GMA.' It was horrible. It was just a shocking kind of thing."

According to Us Weekly, Randolph also discussed her appearance on the "Bachelor" finale with Bristowe, during which she acknowledged the similarities between herself and Susie Evans, who walked off the show after learning Clayton Echard had slept with both of the other finalists. "She really stuck with her intuition and was right — as hard as it was, she had to leave," Randolph opined during the finale.

When Underwood's reality series, "Coming Out Colton," was set to drop on Netflix, his ex made it clear she had no interest in wading back into their relationship. As a source told Us at the time, "She isn't going to be talking about the documentary and isn't going to be watching it, that's for sure." Echoing how Randolph found out Underwood was gay, the insider added, "She only finds out about anything Colton-related if friends mention it to her or it comes out in the public."
