Kourtney Kardashian And Travis Barker Stole The Oscars Red Carpet For All The Wrong Reasons

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker made headlines for their red carpet walk at the 2022 Oscars, and it's not for their outfits. The prominently followed musician and reality TV star stopped for a smooch in front of cameras and not everyone was pleased.

People reported on the tongue-filled PDA as Barker arrived to perform at the 94th annual event, and while the public display was somewhat over the top, the engaged couple's outfits were overall understated and appropriate. Kardashian was spotted wearing a black tea-length dress described as a vintage Mugler and black foot-bearing heels said to be Aquazzura Perfect Kiss Sandals. Kardashian also sported sleek hair and fanned earrings with matching black accents. As seen in Us Weekly, Barker was also dressed in all-black with a suit, black shirt, and matching shoes. He also embellished the outfit with square black sunglasses and a silver lapel pin — and, of course — with Kardashian herself.

Kardashian and Barker displayed some PDA

So, not everyone wanted to see quite so much detail in Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's kiss. Kardashian and Barker kissing might have been a sweet Hollywood moment, but the excessive and visible tongue simply made some watchers feel TMI. As one Twitter follower replied to coverage of the scandalous smooch by saying, "The lengths they have gone to for the ratings."

Whether comments are regarding the kiss or the coverage of the kiss itself — it can reliably be said that this isn't the first time either Kardashian or Barker have been at the center of controversial headlines. Earlier this month, the couple went viral regarding Barker's relationship with Kardashian's ex Scott Disick and for a borrowed T-shirt that his famous fiancé wore, according to Cinema Blend.

When it comes down to who really matters, it seems their friends and family are just fine. As Barker's daughter Alabama shared upon learning of the happy couple's engagement, "So happy for you guys, I love u both!" (via E! Online).

Publicly making out is this couple's go-to move

This isn't the first time the incredibly PDA-friendly couple has, for want of a better descriptor, openly tongued each other on the red carpet. As Cosmopolitan reported at the time, when Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker made their red-carpet debut at the 2021 VMAs, they pulled a similar move. The Blink 182 drummer was there to promote "Papercuts," his latest team-up with Machine Gun Kelly (who made a similar splash on the red carpet with his partner, Megan Fox).

It was the first of many times the couple would coordinate for big events, typically in black. Kardashian rocked a tough leather minidress for the event while Barker chose a spiky black suit with no shirt underneath, per People. Naturally, for the Oscars, they classed it up a little more while keeping their tongues out. It's worth noting that the Poosh founder has been criticized for allegedly changing her style since hooking up with Barker.

As E! News notes, Kardashian clapped back at a fan on Instagram who wrote "and her style begins to change" in response to a photo she shared. Hilariously, Kardashian responded, "This picture is from 2019 but ok," suggesting there's always been a streak of darkness in her. The "Keeping up with the Kardashians" star did tend to match former beau Scott Disick when the two dated, however, per Life & Style magazine.

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker don't care what anyone thinks

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker apparently share clothes too, with the Poosh founder confessing to a Bustle interviewer that, because her fiancé didn't want her to leave his home earlier that day, she had to borrow some clothes — including his Balenciaga briefs, which Kardashian gamely showed off. The couple has been inseparable ever since they first confirmed their relationship in January 2021, though rumors of romance had been circulating for a little while beforehand (via Us Weekly).

The duo had been friends for a long time, but when things turned romantic between them, they really turned. After less than a year of dating, both TMZ and Page Six reported the superstar drummer had proposed to Kardashian in Montecito, and she subsequently confirmed the happy news on Instagram. Just a few months prior, a source told Entertainment Tonight that the relationship was getting serious.

"Getting engaged and married one day has definitely been a topic of conversation between Kourtney and Travis," the insider claimed at the time. There's also been talk of the couple having kids someday too. Although they're major fans of PDA, Kardashian and Barker don't often discuss their relationship with the press. Notably, though, after the reality star helped Barker conquer his fear of flying, he told Nylon, "I'm invincible when I'm with her."
