How Many Children Does Nick Newman Have On The Young And The Restless?

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has had quite a busy love life on "The Young and the Restless" since the character was rapidly aged in the 1990s. He went off to boarding school a small boy and soon returned as a young man (via Soaps.com) ready to find the right girl.

And he did find the right girl in Sharon Collins (Sharon Case). While the road to romance wasn't easy for Nick and Sharon, they did marry fresh out of high school, much to the chagrin of Nick's mother, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).

Nick and Sharon even became parents not long into their marriage and happily raised their little family for years until tragedy struck and tore them apart (via Soaps in Depth). That's where the number of children Nick has fathered became a bit complicated.

Because, with Nick and Sharon no longer together, a lot was about to change in their lives.

Nick lost his daughter Cassie

After Nick and Sharon were married, Sharon had to confess that she gave birth to a child whom she gave up for adoption before she even arrived in Genoa City. Eventually, Nick and Sharon were reunited with that child, Cassie (Camryn Grimes), and became her legal parents.

When Cassie was a teenager, she was a bit rebellious and was out with friends one night when she was supposed to be home. That night would change the face of "The Young and the Restless" — and Nick and Sharon's lives — forever.

Cassie ended up getting behind the wheel of a car without a license in an attempt to drive a drunk Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) home. They got in an accident (via Soaps In Depth), and Cassie was killed. Through the years, Cassie has made some ghostly appearances to Sharon, according to TV Guide, but Nick seems to have missed out on them all.

He has a pseudo daughter, Mariah

By 2014, Camryn Grimes had been playing the ghost version of Cassie sporadically for several years after she was killed in a horrific car accident in 2005.

However, the time came when Sharon wasn't seeing Cassie's ghost. She was seeing Cassie's twin, whom she never realized she had given birth to because her mother gave both girls away with Sharon not realizing the truth (via Michael Fairman TV).

Cassie's twin, Mariah, had grown up in a cult and was bitter and vengeful when she first arrived in Genoa City. But, eventually, she became one of the good guys and grew close to Sharon (via Soaps in Depth).

Mariah now calls Sharon "Mom," and, while she does not call Nick "Dad," he is like a father figure to her. And, if he and Sharon ever marry again (which the show teases every once in a while), he would become Mariah's stepfather.

As of this writing, Mariah is engaged to longtime girlfriend Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), according to Soaps.com.

Nick fathered a son named Noah

Sharon got pregnant quickly after she and Nick were married, and son Noah was born prematurely. The young parents thought he would die, but he eventually pulled through and became strong and healthy.

Noah (then played by Robert Adamson, pictured above) grew into a young man who hasn't had very good luck with women through the years. In fact, he was once involved with Tessa, who ended up dumping him when she realized she had feelings for his sister, Mariah (via Soaps In Depth). Ouch.

Noah recently spent several years as a photographer in Europe, where he claims he had a relationship and a bad breakup. When he returned to Genoa City, Noah (now played by Rory Gibson) seemed to still be carrying a torch for Tessa (via Soaps.com) but is learning to get over her.

Nick also asked his son to start working for him and give up photography, and Noah agreed.

He also has a daughter named Summer

After Cassie died, Nick turned to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) for comfort, the mother of the boy Cassie was driving that fateful night. One thing led to another, and Phyllis ended up pregnant.

When Sharon learned of the affair, she divorced Nick, and he married Phyllis, who gave birth to a daughter they named Summer. While the question of Summer's real paternity remained up in the air for years, it was eventually proven that Nick was the dad, not Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), via Soaps In Depth.

At least Summer (formerly played by Hunter King, pictured above) gets Jack as a father-in-law because she is all grown up now and married to Jack's son, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). She's been living in Italy since 2021 and, as of this writing, is set to return home in May 2022.

She'll be played by a new actress, Allison Lanier, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Nick's teen daughter Faith and pseudo son Christian

Although Nick and Sharon have been divorced for years, they toy with getting back together every now and then.

During one of their many one-night stands, they conceived another child, Faith. Nick and Sharon have never been married while raising Faith, who was kidnapped as an infant, but they have lived together a few times and are co-parenting her (via Soaps In Depth).

Reylynn Caster (pictured above) took over the role of Faith from Alyvia Alyn Lind in 2021, according to Deadline. Teenage Faith has already had a drinking problem and a kidney transplant under her belt and also drove without a license — like her late older sister, Cassie.

However, Faith had a much better outcome after her problems: She is now having a sweet romance with Moses Winters.

Nick had a whirlwind romance with Sage Warner back in 2014, and, when she became pregnant, he married her in 2015 — but didn't check to see if he fathered her child.

Sage was eventually killed in a car accident, and, eventually, Nick learned that little Christian wasn't his but instead belonged to his brother, Adam (via Soaps In Depth). By then, the only dad Christian ever knew was Nick, so Adam stepped aside and is allowing Nick to raise the boy (via Soaps.com).
