Ant Anstead's Relationship With His Ex Christina Hall Just Got A Whole Lot More Complicated

There has been a monumental change in Ant Anstead's co-parenting relationship with ex-wife Christina Hall. When Anstead and Hall announced their 2020 split in an Instagram post, the proud parents of two-year-old Hudson London were adamant about putting their family first and preserving their co-parenting relationship for the sake of their son, per Showbiz CheatsheetHouse Beautiful reports that Anstead and Hall originally shared joint custody of their son, and forewent spousal support in their agreement.

Now, what started out as a peaceful custody agreement between Anstead and the "Christina on the Coast" host has turned ugly. Hall's previous marriage to her former "Flip or Flop" co-host, Tarek El Moussa, also took a turn for the worse. According to People, while "there was no violence and no charges were filed," Hall told the publication in an official statement that, "We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution." This was right before the couple officially finalized their divorce at the beginning of 2018. Now, it seems Hall's relationship with Anstead just got a whole lot more complicated as well.

Why Ant Anstead is asking for full custody

People revealed that Ant Anstead revisited the couple's original agreement and filed for full custody on Thursday, April 28. This move comes as a huge surprise as the pair once spoke positively to the outlet about their current arrangement. According to People, the former "Wheeler Dealers" host — who is currently dating Academy Award-winner Renée Zellweger — confirmed that Christina Hall was always open to him seeing their son whenever he wanted, and in turn, he did the same.

A lot has changed from then as Anstead has made serious accusations about Hall's parenting. Per Life & Style, Anstead and Hall's split two years ago shocked everyone as they were newly wed and just welcomed in their son. At the time, they seemed to make it work, and spoke positively about each other. Now, the two are bracing themselves for a long battle.

TMZ obtained a copy of the filing, which gave insight on what sparked the sudden change. In his filing, Anstead claimed that within a period of 20 months, Hall only saw Hudson "nine full days each month" and that she was using their son to grow her social media following.

The entertainment outlet reports that he also made allegations about her ability to care for their toddler, citing a sunburn incident, failing to disclose that her family tested positive for COVID during her allotted visit, and her experimenting with hallucinogens as the major reasons for his full custody request.

Hall responded to Anstead's filing and bad parent accusations

It's clear that the fallout will be anything but peaceful as Christina Hall immediately opened up online about her feelings over his decision to file for full custody of their son, Hudson. In a statement to Us Weekly, Hall condemned Anstead's decision. Though she did not appear to be blindsided by the news, she admonished the fact that any issues between them were not resolved privately and have now been made public. "What Ant is doing deeply saddens me," her statement began. "If this was really about Hudson, as he says, this should have been handled privately with a private judge or mediation, as myself and my attorney have suggested."

The HGTV star also refuted Anstead's claims that she's a negligent parent in her statement to the outlet. "I have had my share of ups and downs but I am a good mom and I love my children with all my heart and I will always protect them."

Hall and Anstead both have children from previous relationships, per Daily Mail. Hopefully, they are able to resolve their issues amicably before things get messy.
