Celine Dion Shows How Much Her Sons Have Grown Up In Heartbreaking Post

Celine Dion regularly uses her platform to advocate for the causes close to her heart. The icon has been through a huge transformation since she first broke out on the music scene, but she still actively empowers others. In March 2022, the Grammy-wining singer joined other celebrities in raising awareness about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She posted a short letter on Instagram addressing the ongoing conflict. "To the dear courageous people of Ukraine, we are shocked and saddened, and truly inspired by your bravery," she wrote. "Our hearts are with you. We send you love and prayers for peace."

A month later, she took to Twitter to post an emotional PSA calling for support for Ukrainian refugees as part of Global Citizen's Stand Up For Ukraine campaign. Global Citizen's impact report revealed that $10.1 billion dollars was raised in loans and grants. Dion's advocacy — alongside fellow artists including Adam Lambert, Annie Lennox, and Barbra Streisand, per Billboard — made a huge impact. But it doesn't stop there. The "I Surrender" star recently turned to social media to send another powerful message while marking Mother's Day with her sons.

Celine Dion posted a heartfelt Mother's Day tribute to mothers in Ukraine and around the world

Celine Dion shared a special message on Mother's Day. The "It's All Coming Back to Me" singer posted a photo on Instagram of her sons René-Charles, Nelson, and Eddy, per Daily Mail. The foursome were all smiles as they celebrated the day. Though the event was celebratory, her caption once again shone a light on the Russia-Ukraine war.

In it, she expressed gratitude for having the privilege of being with her sons and mentioned the fact that many families in Ukraine have been torn apart as a result of the war (via The Guardian). "I think about mothers in Ukraine and around the world who have lost their children... and for those mothers who constantly worry about how to keep their children safe... and for those mothers who devote every ounce of their energy just to provide their children with the bare necessities of life," her post read in part.

This message is made all the more heartbreaking as the "Ashes" singer has experienced loss before. Dion and her late husband René Angélil had infertility struggles, and she suffered a miscarriage while pregnant with her twins, reports Us Weekly. She acknowledged these mothers' bravery and wished their families "peace and comfort" during these turbulent times.
