Here's What The June 21 Summer Solstice Will Mean For Earth Signs

Summer — it's a time for fun flings and pool parties. It's also the time of the year in which our days get longer and the nights get shorter. One special day during the season is the summer solstice for the Northern Hemisphere (per The Old Farmer's Almanac). This event marks the longest "day" of the year, or the "longest period of visible sunlight." Great Britain, for example, will be experiencing nearly 17 hours of daylight, per Stylist UK.

Summer solstice also marks the official start of summer, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac. This year, the summer solstice will be June 21. After the summer solstice, daytime will slowly start to get shorter and nighttime will get longer for those in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, the opposite will be occurring with the start of winter and the shortest day of the year.

With the longer days for those in the Northern Hemisphere, this makes the summer solstice the opportune time to reconnect with both loved ones and oneself to work on communication, love, and spirituality (via Stylist UK). Moonologist Yasmin Boland told Stylist UK, "It doesn't have an astrological meaning, per se... However it's still potentially a very rich time to work on yourself and your life, using the solstice planets as your guide."

Boland added that doing so can help you in achieving both "personal and professional success," which we know is a major priority for all you goal-oriented earth signs.

This is the time to try new things for Taurus

Taurus, you enjoy comfort and being surrounded by loved ones (per Reader's Digest), so take this time to reconnect with friends and family members. You may also feel a creative streak at this time — take it by the reins and let the creative juices flow. This is a great time to redecorate and revamp your house, as well as read up on new subjects and expand your horizons.

Furthermore, Elite Daily recommends journaling to help channel your creative energy during this time. This is the perfect season to try a new endeavor and get out of your comfort zone, so focus on the hobbies you enjoy now and dedicate more time to them. On the other hand, if you feel like you've been stuck in a rut, Reader's Digest suggests not overthinking it.

Enjoy the lovely sunshine that comes with the year's longest day; everything will work out for the best. PopSugar suggests making time to socialize on this beautiful day and not getting bogged down with work. This is especially important as it's a time to invest into relationships that are serving you and let go of ones that aren't.

Astrologer Narayana Montúfar told Well + Good, "You'll [Taurus] be asked to dive deeply into the motives that keep you in certain relationships and perhaps to end connections that are no longer aligned with your growth." Montúfar recommends letting go of any relationships you feel are ending and not fighting it.

Virgos can expect to reorganize their daily routine

For Virgos, there's very few feelings better than completing tasks, and Reader's Digest predicts that this will be a great time to catch up on your plans and finish anything on your to-do list that has been pending. Narayana Montúfar told Well + Good, "This is a period of time during which you can see completion, with the beginning of the summer being a time to network and launch new projects that'll come to fruition during your September season."

Reader's Digest also suggests tying off any loose ends, as well as using this time to clean and re-organize your house. Make sure to fit in some fun time to try out that new activity that has been on your bucket list, whether it is fried ice cream or scuba diving. Any shortcomings in your relationships may be highlighted during this time too, per CBC. Examine your needs and express what you expect out of your relationships in an assertive, yet respectful manner.

Out of all the earth signs, summer is one of the most important seasons for Virgo, as Virgo season itself starts at the end of the summer. This sunshine season, try to let go of your plans. While organization can be a positive, you can become too rigid when you become glued to your schedule. This period will test your ability to adapt to the circumstances. Allow yourself flexibility to change plans. After all, change can be good!

Capricorns will strengthen their emotional connections

While you may not be known to be particularly open with your emotions, that doesn't mean you are devoid of feelings, Capricorn. Well + Good predicts that you will especially be yearning for emotional intimacy and close relationships during the summer solstice. Connect with old friends and flames. Swipe right on that hottie you've been dreaming about. Network and make your career goals a reality. This is also a great time to hone in on your spiritual side by consulting with a wellness coach.

While you are a goal-oriented person with a plan, Elite Daily recommends going with the flow during this time and not getting upset over things that are out of your control. You are self-sufficient, but use this time to lean in on that special someone and allow yourself to be vulnerable. Let your soft side show through.

PopSugar predicts that you will prioritize your needs and find the emotional strength to voice those thoughts. According to Reader's Digest, it's also a great time to clean house — both literally and figuratively. Declutter that garage that you've accumulated things in and donate or resell items that are no longer serving you. This is also a great time to address any long-standing household issues among your family members that need to be dealt with.

Above all, Glamour reminds you to appreciate the loved ones in your life that support you unconditionally and have stuck by your side through thick-and-thin. Remember, you deserve no less!
