The Most Popular Fashion-Forward Footwear Catherine Middleton Ever Wore

Kate Middleton is one of the most recognized and photographed women in the world. In addition to being the future Queen of England, she is also known for her effortless style. Over the years, she has cultivated a reputation for being somewhat of a fashion icon and there are lists of Kate Middleton's best fashion moments all over the internet.

Per Vogue, the "Kate effect" is the name given to the phenomenon that occurs when the duchess is seen wearing, really anything, and after being photographed in an item, that item typically sells out or fans end up crashing the site it's from. This "effect" applies to all manner of attire from dresses and handbags to outerwear and even shoes. Per Hello! Magazine, the duchess has acquired quite the collection of footwear and has been spotted wearing anything from an elegant high heel to sneakers, which is so relatable. Some of Kate's most popular fashion-forward footwear includes both casual must-haves and glam statement pieces.

A shoe collection fit for royalty

As relatable as Kate Middleton may be, she's still a duchess with a shoe collection that would make even the most dedicated shoe connoisseur swoon. According to Kate Middleton Style, Kate was recently spotted wearing the Alicia Taupe & Black sling back heel by Camilla Elphick to the Royal Charity Polo Cup at Guards Polo Club. These are an elegant and sensible choice for walking the grass of a polo field. The shoe brand also shares a name with her stepmother-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who is a style icon in her own right.

Flats are certainly a favorite for Kate, and when you have three small children, sneakers are the ultimate all-purpose footwear. Kate has been seen sporting these super affordable Superga 2750 Cotu Classic sneakers all over (via Kate Middleton Style.) These basic white sneakers are absolutely perfect for the hands-on mom who also wants a chic and functional shoe as well.

Official royal duties call for some glam

When the duchess is not busy with her three kids, Kate Middleton spends much of her time hot on the royal trail, representing Her Majesty, The Queen as a senior working royal. And when representing the monarchy at an official engagement, Kate certainly tends to favor glam. In 2017, Kate was spotted wearing the Gianvito Rossi d'Orsay sandals while at an event at the British embassy in Paris, per Kate Middleton Style, but the duchess was also seen wearing them again some months later at a garden party in Warsaw, Poland. The sandals must be a favorite of the duchess, because in 2018, she was spotted wearing them yet again on a tour of Sweden. When a shoe works, you work it hard!

When going for a traditional pump, the duchess is also a fan of British designer L.K. Bennett. Per Cosmopolitan, Kate has hit the royal trail in several of his styles, including the Fern and the Sledge. These timeless styles are everything you'd expect from a future queen.

We cannot talk about Kate Middleton's collection of heels without talking about the shoes she wore to marry Prince William in 2011. Per Elle, the shoes Kate wore at her Westminster Abbey ceremony were made by legendary British designer Alexander McQueen. Of course, the shoes were custom-made by the designer who also made Kate Middleton's wedding dress, and the motif was both classic McQueen and classic Kate. A truly perfect marriage.
