Will Laura Wright's COVID Diagnosis Result In A Carly Recast On General Hospital?

Fan-favorite "General Hospital" star Laura Wright recently revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19. Her unfortunate diagnosis came at the end of a vacation to Colorado that she took with her boyfriend Wes Ramsey, who previously played Peter August on the soap and also tested positive. According to the actress' Instagram, before becoming sick the pair enjoyed time boating on the Horsetooth Reservoir with Laura's son and white-water rafting on the Poudre River. Now it seems the two are getting some much-needed couch time while they recover. They let fans know they were catching up on shows like "Midnight Mass," "Terminal List," and "Stranger Things" (via Soaps).

Wright, who plays Carly Corinthos on the soap, is just the latest "GH" cast member to come down with COVID. Her on-screen son Chad Duell has also been ill and was temporarily recast for the second time in a few months (via Showbiz CheatSheet). His replacement Robert Adamson has been holding down the role of Michael Corinthos in Duell's absence, but fans are somewhat sad that the longtime soap star is missing some significant scenes for his character, such as finding out his girlfriend Willow Tate (Katey McMullen) is pregnant.

Now that Wright has joined the list of sick stars, is a recast in her future as well?

Laura Wright will be back to shooting episodes of General Hospital soon

After Laura Wright announced her COVID-19 diagnosis, fans flocked to social media to wish her well. Many also wondered if she would need to be recast for upcoming episodes of "General Hospital." Thankfully she was able to put their minds at ease. The actress tweeted, "[GH is] on a break right now so I'll be good when we start shooting again." Whew. That means Wright can continue to enjoy her down time while viewers enjoy the daily ramp-up of Carly–centered storylines on the soap.

In recent weeks, the character suffered a major financial loss after Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) sabotaged the merger between ELQ and Aurora Media. As a result, Carly lost her half of the Metro Court Hotel that she has co-owned with friend Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero) for many years (via Soaps). What's worse? Her arch-nemesis Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) quickly snatched it up. Though Olivia, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) offered to help Carly out of the jam, her pride kept her from accepting.

Also, the criminal trial regarding her daughter Josslyn Jacks' (Eden McCoy) leaked sex tape has begun (via SoapDirt). Most of the residents of Port Charles, along with fans of the show, are panicked for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), who might end up in prison for a crime she didn't commit! Luckily, our beloved Laura Wright will be there to show us how exactly Carly is going to navigate her latest troubles.
