The Prince Harry Underwear Saga Takes An Unexpected Turn

A decade ago, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, visited Las Vegas for a wild, "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" trip that dominated worldwide headlines.

Prince Harry's trip has gone down as an iconic cultural moment in history, mainly for the event spicing up his family's pristinely royal image, as he was shown mingling with women by the pool, and dancing barefoot at raves (via The Mirror). It was also the trip that caused a media explosion when photos of the Duke of Sussex in his birthday suit were leaked, TMZ reported back in 2012.

While Prince Harry has reformed his image and is now a family man living in California with his wife Meghan Markle and two children, he's spoken out about his past. In a 2014 cover story for Man of the World magazine, Prince Harry reflected back, saying, "It was probably a classic case of me being too much [in the] Army and not enough prince. It's a simple case of that."

Now, a certain aspect of the infamous Vegas trip is making its round in the news again, and the reason may surprise you.

Prince Harry's underwear worn in Las Vegas is being auctioned

Nearly a decade after news broke that Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, was partying in a Las Vegas hotel room, a memento of a highly publicized moment of his youth is making a resurgence.

Recently it was revealed that when Prince Harry visited Las Vegas in 2012, he gifted a pair of his black knickers to an adult entertainer, who is now auctioning them off. TMZ reported that the underwear started off at a $10,000 bid and climbed to a whopping $250,000. If you're wondering if the royal has co-signed this, it was announced that, in fact, a portion of the proceeds will go toward Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's charity, Archewell. Though this may seem like a sizeable sum to most, bidding will continue until the end of September, or until a bidder offers $1 million for the briefs.

The underwear was auctioned off at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club in Las Vegas, one of the places Prince Harry partied the night away back in August 2012, and even Carrie Royale, the dancer who took the garment from Prince Harry's hotel room during a night of partying, was there. She tells Page Six, "Harry has become such a bore, it's a real shame. At least these pants are a reminder of what he used to be like ... when Harry was the fun prince."
