Details About Sister Wives' Star Christine Brown & Her Fiancé David Woolley's Relationship

"Sister Wives" star Christine Brown was the matriarch of the Brown family prior to leaving her polygamist husband Kody Brown. The TLC network portrayed her as a loyal, hardworking, stay-at-home mom who took care of her and Kody's six biological children (Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, and Truely), as well as the kids of her Sister Wives (when the others were working outside the home).

The couple entered a "spiritual" relationship in 1994. They couldn't be legally married, since Kody was already legally married to his first wife, Meri Brown, at the time. He also had a second wife, Janelle Brown, when he wed Christine. Kody later took on a fourth wife, Robyn Brown, whose courtship and wedding were featured on the reality TV show.

Christine announced her separation from Kody in November 2021. It didn't come as surprising news, as the couple's troubles were chronicled for years. She wasn't the first wife to leave the polygamist reality star, either. Janelle announced on Part 1 of the "Sister Wives" Season 17 reunion that she was done with the marriage. Meri wasn't far behind, announcing her exit from the relationship in January 2023.

Christine seems to be making the biggest splash out of the three single "Sister Wives" these days, though. She's already in a new relationship and hasn't been shy about sharing her journey to find love post-Kody. Let's look at Christine's relationship timeline and what her relationship with David Woolley is like today.

Her marriage with Kody Brown fell apart

Prior to meeting David Woolley, Christine Brown gave polygamy a try. This wasn't surprising, as she was raised in a large polygamous family, and has shared that she knew she wanted to be in a plural marriage since the age of 19. "I honestly wanted sister wives more than a husband for a good time of my life," Christine said on the "Sister Wives" Season 1 premiere. "I want the whole family. I didn't just want Kody."

She is famous for the "I wanted the family, I didn't just want the man" tagline on the show. However, the family (more specifically Kody's strong relationship with fourth wife Robyn Brown) was also partly to blame for her decision to leave. She felt Robyn was Kody's "favorite wife," and it was tough watching Robyn and Kody's functioning marriage when Christine and Kody's relationship was falling apart.

The comments Kody made about not being "attracted" to her on their wedding day and not wanting to have an intimate marriage didn't help the relationship. "I'm not okay with staying in a marriage where there's no intimacy. That's not a real marriage. I'm not interested in a half marriage or a partial marriage or whatever we have," Christine said (via People). She later admitted on the Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast that they tried multiple forms of therapy to try to make the marriage work. "You name it, we tried it."

She announced her divorce and moved back to Utah

Christine Brown made the official announcement that she was leaving Kody Brown after 25 years of marriage on Instagram in November 2021. The statement said the couple "made the difficult decision to leave," but would "continue to be a strong presence in each other's lives" and co-parent their kids. Kody made his own statement that day, saying he had a "large amount of admiration and respect" for his third wife.

The breakup apparently wasn't as peachy as it sounded, though. On the Season 17 reunion special, "Sister Wives: One-on-One," Christine said it was "embarrassing" that Kody wasn't attracted to her, but also a "relief," as things were bad for a long time. "I'm not going to keep fighting for this, and I'm not going to keep trying and I'm not going to keep doing this if you're not attracted to me," she told TLC host Sukanya Krishnan.

Kody didn't try to smooth things over with her, either. He ignored accusations that Robyn Brown was his "favorite wife" and told the TLC host that Christine was a "game player." Kody said, "From the time we were married — manipulation, pouting, temper tantrums, just behavior things" were behaviors he experienced with her.

It was all water under the bridge though, as Christine went through with the split and announced that she moved in to a $1.1 million, 3-bedroom duplex in Salt Lake City, Utah with their daughter Truely in November 2022.

She doubled down on her career and went back on the dating market

Christine Brown beefed up her income streams by doing a ton of cooking and Plexus videos after leaving Kody Brown. According to Celebrity Net Worth, she's worth an estimated $400,000 and one source estimates that she (and Kody's other exes) could earn "anywhere between $800,000 to $2 million" for brand partnerships, sponsorships and product sales (via The Sun).

She was clearly standing on her own two feet when she started dating again in October 2022. At the time, she told Entertainment Tonight she was "very casually" dating, but looking for monogamy. "I'm dating just for fun. Just keeping everything super light because that's just who I am right now," Christine said. She also took a jab at Kody by saying that finding someone "attracted" to her would be "a really great thing."

At one point, she asked her Instagram followers for dating advice. She received several great responses, including one from @deidrebehar, who wrote, "You need no advice, you got this – and you're the prize." There were also plenty of references to her former polygamist lifestyle, such as the comment, "Run away if they think love should be multiplied not divided." She told the Today Show she didn't "want anything serious" at the time. However, that didn't last long, as she would soon announce her perfect man.

She introduced David Woolley as the love of her life

In December 2022, Christine Brown said she wanted a man that "fit" in her life, as she didn't want to "morph" herself to fit anybody. It apparently didn't take her long to find him, as she announced that she was dating someone "exclusively" two months later (via The Sun). "He's wonderful and romantic and so kind and everything I've been looking for," Christine said in early February 2023, adding that she'd reveal his identity when she was ready.

She announced his identity shortly afterward on Valentine's Day, writing, "I finally found the love of my life, David. The first time he held me close, it felt like my soul took it's first breath. He's wonderful and kind, incredible with my children and an adorable grandpa. I never dreamed I could find a love like this."

David also shared the news on Instagram. "When I'm with you, we just sit in our own little bubble and the world can go around us and we're just standing still and it's perfect and I have never felt like this before," he wrote. "When I took you to The Little Mermaid play I saw how much you loved life and I knew I had some one special for me."

Christine said that it's been "amazing" having David in her life, and the pair frequently use the nicknames "my king" and "my queen" to describe each other.

Who is David Woolley?

David Woolley was born in San Diego, California, but has since relocated to Utah. David, who is nine years older than the "Sister Wives" star, has owned the construction drywall business David P Woolley Drywall since 2015. He appears to be adventurous, based on the pictures he's shared of his jeep and his Polaris off-roading vehicle, and the fact that he's held a hunting license since the 2000s (per The Sun).

Like Christine, David loves being a grandparent. It's not surprising that David is close with his family, as he became a widower left to raise his children alone in 2014. We know that at least one of his kids, Kati Charlene Woolley, appears to be okay with her dad's new relationship, as she raved about it on TikTok. In one makeup tutorial video, a fan called Christine Kati's new "second mom" to which Kati replied that she is the "luckiest."

"I loved Christine long before she met my dad," Kati wrote. She defended her dad in another TikTok video, telling a "Sister Wives" fan expressing concerns about men having "bad intentions" and wanting Christine for "money/fame" that her dad is "not after any of those things."

"He never has been. He just loves Christine," Kati wrote. In a separate TikTok, she raved about Christine and how she "found a way to make all my siblings feel loved" (via The Hollywood Gossip).

Her kids have mixed feelings about the relationship

There's no doubt that Christine Brown is excited about the relationship with her "king" David Woolley, but what does the rest of her family think about this romance? It appears that the consensus is mixed.

Her daughter, Gwendlyn Brown, fielded questions about her mother's relationship in an early April 2023 Instagram live video. "I do like my mom's boyfriend. I think he's a lot of fun," Gwendlyn said, adding that David and her sister Truely "get along really well," which was a concern of hers initially (via Entertainment Tonight). She also shared that her siblings have met and get along with David well enough. "As a person, we like him."

Not all of Christine's kids are all in on David yet, though. Her son, Paedon Brown, voiced concerns about the relationship in his own TikTok, sharing that he told his mother, "You're going fast. I'm not telling you to slow down. I just want you to be aware that you're rushing this." The 24-year-old also referenced the "bad" ending of his mom's relationship with his father Kody Brown, and warned that she's "rushing into this relationship [with David] very, very quickly." Despite his concerns, however, he did add the positive comment that David is a "wonderful guy," and that he's "very happy" for his mom. While he's doubtful that he will ever become close with his future stepdad, time will tell.

His daughter didn't like the media talking about her mother's death

Rumors started swirling that David Woolley's wife and mother of his eight children, Margaret Woolley, died by suicide after he went public with Christine Brown. David and Margaret were married for 22 years and had eight children together when Margaret passed away in 2012, according to The Sun

After obtaining information via a Freedom of Information Act request, The Sun reported in a separate story that police found bottles of pills on the scene and "listed her death as suicide from overdose." Before her passing, the 43-year-old allegedly sent her friend a suicide text and left David a note saying, "You took everything and anything good in me and broke it with your controlling manipulative ways. Please be a better father than you could ever be as a husband," per the same source.

David's daughter, Kati Charlene Woolley, didn't like the information becoming public knowledge and posted an emotional video on TikTok divulging that she "begged for them not to post" about her mother's death when she was approached to make a comment about it (via Entertainment Tonight). "My mom took her own life. It's hard and tragic and something I still struggle with," Kati said.

Their families have started to blend

You know a relationship is going well when the parents decide it's time to start blending the kids, and that's exactly what happened when Christine Brown decided to take daughter, Truely Brown, on an outing with David Woolley's family. David shared a photo of the get-together on Instagram on  April 2, 2023, which indicates that the couple's bond is growing stronger. The couple is all smiles in the picture, which included David's daughter Kati Charlene Woolley, Truely, and two of David's grandchildren.

"Had so much fun seeing my daughter and her boys for a short visit! #grandkids #family #familytime #myqueen," David wrote. Christine's daughter, Mykelti Padron, left a comment in support of her mother on the post. "Why didn't I get the invite? [Kati] is awesome!!! That's okay I understand, it's an 12 hour drive away from me. #imfine #lovethis." Kati replied to her potential new stepsister, encouraging a Brown-Woolley kids get-together: "Okay but really you should come down. We would have so much fun." The two older daughters definitely sound excited about their parent's partnership.

Christine clearly began blending the families quickly due to the strong feelings she developed for David, which she shared in her exclusive dating announcement via an Instagram story in February 2022. "He's wonderful and romantic and so kind, and everything I've been looking for," the reality star said, adding that David is "absolutely a dream come true" (via People).

David has an interesting relationship with Christine's daughter Truely

Truely Brown, the youngest daughter of Christine Brown and Kody Brown, is the only minor still living in Christine's home, so it's not surprising that people seem concerned about how she's handling her mother's new relationship with David Woolley. While her big sister Gwendolyn Brown has shared that Truely and David "get along," the 12-year-old appeared to be acting out when she tagged along on an ATV ride on David's Razor through Moab, Utah.

Christine shared a video of the outing on Instagram, which showed David driving the vehicle with his arm around Christine, who was sitting in the passenger seat. Truely was sitting in the back of the vehicle at the time, and unexpectedly bit David's hand at one point in the video. He could be heard saying,  "Ah, she just bit me," which resulted in Christine trying to remedy the situation by telling her daughter to "be nice to David" (via The Sun). Truely defiantly told her mother "no" through a grin, and the video cut shortly after Christine replied, "Awkward."

People on social media were quick to notice the "awkward" scenario and voiced their concerns about the couple's relationship in the post's comments. One user wrote, "Does anyone think this is too much too fast? For Christine and Truely? I know the show is a year (or more) behind, but I hope there was some settling time before jumping into another relationship."

Sources say one of her sister wives isn't happy about the relationship

Christine Brown seems to be closest with Janelle Brown out of her three "Sister Wives," and there were even rumors circulating about the two ladies doing a reality spin-off show post-Kody Brown at one point, per The Sun. "It's in serious talks and development," an insider told the publication, adding that the show would focus on their "life after polygamy," dating escapades, and business ventures, if it happened.

However, things may have changed, as a source told The Sun that Janelle "doesn't approve of her love life" and she is "really disgusted" with her. "She finds [Christine's public posts with David] repulsive. It's not appropriate for her at all," the source divulged, adding that Janelle thinks Christine's public proclamations of love are "too much too soon."

The most concerning thing the source shared is that Janelle is "having a hard time trusting him [David]." She didn't get into any specifics about why the trust isn't there. Hopefully, the red flags will subside quickly, as The Sun reported on April 9, 2023 that Christine "wants the fairytale ending" and is "100 percent ready" to marry David. "She never fully got to live life with Kody since they were in a polygamous relationship, so she wants a forever with someone so badly," an insider told the outlet, adding that "a wedding can happen sooner than later."

We'll likely see him on the next season of Sister Wives

There's a good chance that you'll see David Woolley if "Sister Wives" returns for Season 18, as a production team, cameras, and a mic were spotted in the background of one of Christine's Brown's recent social media posts. Christine has openly shared her love for David on social media, and we don't think it's possible for her to give fans a true update on her life without talking about her new romance.

The TLC network hasn't officially announced a new season; however, Christine's son, Paedon Brown, confirmed that Season 18 will air in September 2023 in a TikTok live video. "Twelve years, eighteen seasons, it's been phenomenal," Paedon said on TikTok, adding that, "The reason it's still going is because of you guys" (via OK! Magazine).

Christine also confirmed the news in a TikTok video of her own, giving "Sister Wives" fans a tour of the unfinished basement where she'll be filming in her new Utah home. "I'm still doing 'Sister Wives,'" Christine said in the video. The post gave fans a sneak peak of the neatly decorated white bookshelves lined with books, as well as the spot where a producer and cameraman will sit when Christine films.

She announced her engagement in April 2023

Christine Brown announced her engagement to David Woolley on April 13, 2023 on Instagram, writing, "We're engaged! David popped the question VERY romantically, and I said YES! I'm so excited and just live in bliss every day." The post included a picture of the couple, with Christine showing off her new pear-shaped diamond engagement ring. Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, estimates the diamond to be 2.5 carats (valued at $70,000). As he told Us Weekly, "It's obvious that careful planning went into designing such a stunning, personalized ring." This sparkly engagement ring is certainly flashier than the Claddagh wedding ring Christine wore when married to Kody Brown.

"Sister Wives" star Janelle Brown commented on Christine's Instagram announcement, writing, "Hurray!!!" She also reshared the photo of the happy couple. However, a source alleged to The Sun, "[Janelle] doesn't understand how you can go from being so deeply brokenhearted and in love with Kody for so many years and then, all of a sudden, be madly in love with someone else."

Christine doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks, though, as she's continuing to move at her own speed. In a later Instagram post, she revealed she's already planning her "second chance" wedding, asking for referrals to help her find her perfect wedding dress, flowers, cake, and more. According to In Touch Weekly, she and David also purchased a $770,000, 4,200-square-foot new build home in Lehi, Utah, in March 2023.
