Kristina's Disturbing Relationship With Kiefer On General Hospital

The following article includes allegations of domestic abuse.

Recently, Kristina Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) has been an underused character on "General Hospital," but there was a time when she was at the forefront of several major storylines, including one that tackled a real-world issue: domestic abuse. Her parents are former attorney Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) thanks to an ill-advised one-night stand. In 2009, a teenage Kristina got involved with Kiefer Bauer (Christian Alexander) — whose name was an homage to both actor Kiefer Sutherland and his beloved "24" character, Jack Bauer.

However, this Kiefer was the polar opposite of Sutherland's hero and was, in fact, someone to be despised. Kristina started bonding with her brother, Michael Corinthos (then Drew Garrett), who ended up having a barroom brawl with Kiefer. The two men were constantly at odds, but because Kiefer was Kristina's boyfriend, she chose to take his side most of the time. Alexis felt that because Sonny lived a dangerous lifestyle, and Michael had suffered brain damage from his time in a coma after being accidentally shot, Kristina was better off spending her time with Kiefer instead.

Alexis had no idea what kind of person Kiefer really was, though. At the time, Sonny was married to Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Brown), and when Kristina had a fight with Kiefer, she jumped into a car and unintentionally caused an accident that made a pregnant Claudia lose her baby.

Kiefer physically abused Kristina

Kiefer helped Kristina cover up the incident that killed her unborn baby brother. She always sided with him because Kristina feared his mental and verbal abuse. When Kristina began developing feelings for Ethan Lovett (then Nathan Parsons), Kiefer's jealousy took over and he physically beat her up. Prior to that, Ethan and Kristina had an argument, and when he went to apologize to her, Ethan found Kristina badly beaten and rushed her to the hospital. Since Kristina was afraid that Sonny and his enforcer, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), would kill Kiefer if they knew the truth, she blamed Ethan for the assault.

He was arrested for the attack, but she later convinced Alexis to drop the charges. Because of that, Kiefer beat her up again. However, Alexis saw him leave their house and found a battered Kristina out cold. She rushed her daughter to the hospital, and in her haste, Alexis accidentally ran over Kiefer and she didn't stop. Kiefer died from his injuries, and Alexis kept quiet about what'd happened.

Ethan was arrested for being the hit-and-run driver, but Jason knew Ethan didn't harm Kristina, and he convinced the police to look into the matter. After a while, the guilt got to Alexis, and she admitted to Kristina that she was the one who killed Kiefer. Kristina also ended up telling the authorities that it was Kiefer who beat her, not Ethan, and the charges against him were dropped on that basis too.

Kiefer's father went on a rampage

Kristina was haunted by Kiefer's death. The dead boy's parents also struggled with his demise, and Kiefer's father, Warren Bauer (Bradley Cole), even sought revenge for it. An embittered Warren attacked Kristina in the hospital, but Michael (now Chad Duell) defended her against him. Warren soon went on a rampage, shooting up the hospital and hitting Ethan and Mac Scorpio (John J. York) in the process. Fortunately, Mac was able to muster the strength to shoot Warren dead before he could kill Kristina.

In 2019, Kiefer's sister, Kendra Lennon (Michelle Argyris), came to town also seeking revenge for her brother's death. A practicing life coach, she took Alexis on as a client but Kendra was secretly poisoning her with a powdered supplement that she had laced with thallium. Alexis got sick and ended up in the hospital again. She had thrown some empty supplement containers in the trash at Charlie's pub, and the owner, Alexis's ex-husband, Julian Jerome (William deVry), found dead rats around them and knew something was up.

However, it was too late because Kendra had already knocked Alexis unconscious and brought her to the spot where Kiefer was killed. She injected Alexis with a paralyzing agent and planned to run her over in retaliation for what happened to Kiefer, but Kenrda was killed before she could do it when another car crashed into hers. Thankfully, Kristina has since recovered from all the horrors that she endured.
