If we've learned anything from TikTok, it's that there are always new beauty techniques to try and new ways to use your beloved products. If you've been applying your blush in the same place on your face forever, it could be time to make a change to your routine.

When it comes to blush, one of the things you can play around with is the placement of the product on your face. The elevated blush trend can be achieved by placing your blush on the tops of your cheekbones rather than on the fleshy parts of your cheeks themselves. You can even use blush on your temples and connect that entire portion of your face with the product, which lifts your whole face. The good news with this trend is that if you try out the new placement and end up not liking it, it's easy to wipe off, so trying out this trend comes with very low stakes.

Try the elevated blush trend by applying blush high on your cheekbones

TikTok user Madi Prettyman shared a blush placement hack in a video on how to lift your cheekbones with makeup. In the video, she demonstrates first applying her blush to her face in a C-shape, starting from above her eyebrow to her temple and then to her cheek. Then, she suggests, "Apply your highlighter in a smaller C-shape above your blush and bring it up to underneath your eyebrow." This application lifts your cheekbones by highlighting those top areas.

Selena Gomez's makeup artist applies her blush higher because he likes the lift it gives her, according to a video posted on TikTok by CleanGirlHacks. In the video, the makeup artist shares, "I generally like the blush a little higher on the high cheekbone here. I think it gives the face a little lift." Gomez tells her makeup artist in the video, "When you taught me that, it really changed the game for me." If this tip is good enough for Selena Gomez, then it's good enough for us!

Feel free to play around with your blush placement

If you decide that you do want to make a change to your blush routine, the best way to experiment with elevated blush placement is to simply play around with where on your face you're placing your blush and use that to figure out what you like the best.

To switch up your look, you're not limited only to the trending elevated blush placement. Experts at Charlotte Tilbury suggest applying your blush according to your face shape. If you have a round face, the makeup brand suggests a high blush placement, whereas if you have a heart-shaped face, they suggest using your blush on the apples of the cheek and out toward your temples. It's worth it to experiment and make sure you're not applying your blush wrong for your face shape. When used correctly, the product can lift your face and elevate your entire makeup look to ensure you're getting the most out of your blush.
