Hallmark's Lacey Chabert Previews A Night Of Haunting Romance In The Dancing Detective

Get excited — one of your favorite Hallmark actors has a new movie. Lacey Chabert first captured our hearts as violin-playing Claudia in the TV series "Party of Five," then made us laugh with her plaid skirt-wearing ways as Gretchen Wieners in "Mean Girls." Her Hallmark debut came in 2010 with "Elevator Girl," and Chabert has followed it with over 30 movies for the network.

"I think the thing that has become the most rewarding for me and being a part of these movies is when I meet people, the common thread is always, 'Thanks for doing something that's uplifting,'" she told Forbes. "At this point, I kind of consider it an honor to be a part of bringing some goodness into the world."

Chabert has earned spy-worthy accolades for her roles in the mysterious side of Hallmark, most notably for the "Crossword Mysteries" movie series and for "The Color of Rain," which has the honor of being rated the highest of all Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' original projects. Her latest movie is "The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango," with a premiere date of Friday, June 2, and Chabert has promised a good time for all.

Chabert is dancing with Kemp once again

In "The Dancing Detective," Lacey Chabert stars as Constance, an undercover detective who enters a dance competition to solve a murder. She's paired with pro dancer Sebastian, played by Will Kemp. If you're a Hallmark fan, you'll remember the duo previously tripped the light fantastic in "Christmas Waltz."

"It was just a blast for Will and I to reconnect and to bring the story to life together again because we really enjoy working together," she shared with Us Weekly about their latest pairing. In an interview with Great Day Washington, she admitted to being the novice in their dancing relationship. "I am not a dancer, but I've learned a lot," she explained. "It was something that was always a fear of mine, and I've actually had so much fun learning to dance, and Will is a very patient partner." Kemp himself has trained with The Royal Ballet.

Chabert first teased "The Dancing Detective" on Instagram in March. "I'm thrilled to be working with my good friend [Will Kemp] again on a new movie for [Hallmark]. We are currently filming in Malta and having such a great time bringing this mystery to life!" And she's kept on teasing.

The Dancing Detective is an adventure with a beautiful backdrop

"The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango" was filmed in Malta, a picturesque island south of Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. Lacey Chabert was smitten with the location, dropping a selfie on Instagram with a beautiful ocean view behind her. "Good morning from Malta!" she wrote. "I'm really enjoying filming in this beautiful place. Very thankful for this experience!"

She also shared photos of cast and crew members on location, with each picture bringing more interest in the movie — including from fellow Hallmark stars. "Can't wait to watch you Tango!" wrote Danica McKellar on one post, while Alison Sweeney shared the sentiment on another, exclaiming, "Can't wait!"

In a more recent post, Chabert shared a photo of the movie poster, writing, "Only ten days until 'The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango' premieres ... This movie takes you on an adventure in Malta! I hope you love it as much as [Will Kemp] and I enjoyed making it." Chabert also uploaded a mysterious black-and-white clip from the movie of the duo dancing, accompanied by a haunting melody. "This is a clip from one of our favorite scenes!" she noted. "We'll see you on Friday."
