Why Ryan Seacrest's Latest TV Appearances Have Everyone Worried

It's no secret that Ryan Seacrest has undergone quite the transformation since his initial "American Idol" debut. Perhaps most notably, Seacrest has embarked on a major weight loss journey in recent years. And while there's certainly nothing wrong with that on its own, fans, commentators, and insiders alike have expressed concern that the beloved television host may be overdoing it slightly. For instance, a promotional video that the host shot for last year's "New Year's Rockin' Eve" special gained significant attention on social media after audiences noticed Seacrest's frail appearance and began to worry about his health. His even more recent onscreen appearances have done little to quell those concerns.

Seacrest's gig hosting "Wheel of Fortune" has kept him busy and firmly ensconced in the public eye, but it's also opened him up to increased attention from online sleuths. A quick scroll through X, formerly known as Twitter, reveals no shortage of opinions, however unsubstantiated they may be, from users regarding potential Ozempic use while others speculate about health issues, Seacrest working himself too hard, or a combo of the two. As one X user wrote, in March 2026, "Am I the only one that thinks Ryan Seacrest is sick?"

They elaborated, "He looks a hot mess on Wheel of Fortune. Does anyone know what's wrong with him? His cheeks are sunk in, his eyes look weak all the time and he's so thin. Get healthy Ryan and maybe stop doing so much." Even the "American Idol" host's own Instagram account isn't immune to such chatter, with one selfie from February 2026, in particular, amassing several comments about his appearance. "Ryan I am worried about you," one fan wrote. "Ryan love you mean it eat a hamburger or a steak," another remarked.

Ryan Seacrest follows a strict diet and exercise routine

Ryan Seacrest, who turned 50 in December 2024, has been refreshingly open about the fact that he wants to do everything in his power to continue looking and feeling as young as possible. Hence, the strict diet and exercise routine that has apparently resulted in his noticeably slimmer figure. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in October 2024, the "Wheel of Fortune" host confessed to "over-exercising, eating better, [and] over-training," before humorously stating that his goal was to "make myself feel 29 again." During a prior chat with People, in January 2021, Seacrast shared that he had hopped on the intermittent fasting train by having tea and coffee every morning in lieu of breakfast.

The beloved TV personality also described himself as being "conveniently vegan," meaning that while he adheres to a plant-based diet most of the time, he does "cheat" on occasion. Still, it sounds like that cheating mostly involves fish, so the concerned fan on Instagram calling for Seacrest to eat a steak or burger may be disappointed. While the "American Idol" host has definitely prioritized taking care of himself as he's gotten older, reports suggest Seacrest's fans aren't the only ones worried that he may be taking things too far.

In November 2025, an insider admitted to RadarOnline that those close to him have similar concerns. "He loves to tell people how much he eats and that he's indulging in pasta and carbs, and that he's absolutely fine, but no one is buying that," they explained. "He's been running himself ragged doing 'American Idol' and 'Wheel of Fortune.' [...] He's running on empty and seems exhausted all the time." However, another source contradicted this by insisting that Seacrest was doing well.
