What Amanda Bearse From Married... With Children Looks Like Now
Amanda Bearse shot to fame playing Marcy D'Arcy, the nosy yuppie neighbor who was always ready to cut Ed O'Neill's Al Bundy down to size with a well-timed quip on "Married... with Children." Bearse was such a pivotal part of the show's 11-season run that she managed to appear in one more episode than David Faustino, who played Bud Bundy. She was just as important behind the camera as well, directing 31 of the show's 263 episodes, more than all but two of the show's directors.
After "Married... with Children" ended in 1997, Bearse focused less on acting and more on directing, working on "Dharma & Greg," "Reba," and "The Big Gay Sketch Show," which starred Kate McKinnon and Colman Domingo before they became famous. While Bearse appears to prefer working behind the scenes now, she does take on the occasional acting role, like playing Luke Macfarlane's mother in the Billy Eichner movie "Bros." Bearse is also a regular face at horror conventions thanks to her role in the classic vampire movie "Fright Night."
The years have been kind to Bearse, who looked great sporting her natural graying hair and friendly smile while posing with a few die-hard horror fans at a convention in July 2026 (via Instagram). It had been almost 30 years since "Married... with Children" ended at the time the photo was taken, but the actor still looked like she could slip back into the role any time. Bearse continues to have the same youthful look that made her a perfect "girl next door" in "Fright Night" and a great comedic foil for O'Neill on "Married... with Children."

Amanda Bearse was just 28 when she first appeared on the always controversial "Married... with Children" in April 1987, but the way the show did her hair and costumes helped make her look older. Just two years before she starred on the hit series, Bearse was playing a high school student in "Fright Night" and a college student in "Fraternity Vacation." But with a hairstyle that one Reddit user called "the haircut of a 68 year old bingo lady" and a conservative wardrobe that looked like, as another Redditor put it, "clothing borrowed from her grandmother," Bearse was able to play the role of the fuddy-duddy.
Bearse may have turned 68 in August 2026, but she isn't showing her age. No longer trapped in the look she needed to have for "Married... with Children," the actor-turned-director seems more comfortable attending conventions in modern casual wear that works well with her gray pixie cut. When the occasion calls for it, like attending the 2022 premiere of "Bros," Bearse proved she knows how to look cool, sporting a purple suit with a sharp button-down shirt (seen above-right).
While Bearse didn't get along with everyone on "Married... with Children," she has kept in close contact with most of the show's cast. Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate attended her 2010 wedding, and Bearse was there to cheer Applegate on when she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022.
