Since he became a star with 1985's "Silverado," Kevin Costner's life and career have both had their ups and downs. The "Dances with Wolves" star has been married twice, with his second marriage ending in 2024. According to one source, Costner is now looking for someone he can make a real, long-lasting connection with. Speaking to the Daily Mail, an insider revealed that the actor has "dated a lot of women since his divorce, but most of them, to my knowledge, have been age appropriate. He's not into trophy girlfriends in their 20s like a lot of Hollywood men his age are."

While it may not be the biggest Hollywood age gap out there, the "Yellowstone" star's most recent romantic partners have all been a fair bit younger than him. In August 2026, Costner was reportedly dating 39-year-old McKenna Wesley, and in September, he was spotted with 40-year-old Jennifer Milburn. The actor was also romantically linked to a few fellow celebrities closer to his age too. In 2024, Costner was rumored to be dating Sharon Stone, though the "Basic Instinct" star denied it.

That same year, the "Hidden Figures" star was linked to singer Jewel after they were seen getting cozy at a fundraiser. Asked by Elle about the rumors, she avoided a direct answer, responding, "He's a great person. The public fascination is intense for sure." And while Costner is reportedly hesitant about getting married a third time, the prolific performer is still open to finding long-lasting love, telling Extra TV in 2024, "People are supposed to be together. So, I'm sure that could happen for me."

Kevin Costner was blindsided by his second divorce

Kevin Costner was reportedly shocked when Christine Baumgartner, his wife of 18 years, asked for a divorce. The former couple, who have three children (Costner has seven total), were last seen in public together attending the Academy Awards in March 2023, but by May Baumgartner had filed the paperwork. The move took her longtime husband by surprise. As an insider confirmed to Page Six, "He obviously doesn't want the divorce and he would take her back. He loves her and he loves his children." The "Waterworld" star wasn't alone in being taken aback either.

A source who worked on western drama "Yellowstone" with Costner claimed, "No-one knew about any issues. He was not 'sequestered' on the set and would often go home to visit his family," while a friend admitted, "I have no idea if Kevin even knows what the reasons are." Rumors quickly spread about both Costner and Baumgartner having affairs that eventually tore their relationship apart, but both parties vehemently denied the allegations, and the divorce filing itself cited "irreconcilable differences." A year after the divorce, Baumgartner got engaged to their former neighbor Josh Connor, whom Costner suspected she was seeing.

A friend of Baumgartner clarified to Us Weekly that they were just friends before the divorce, asserting, "Josh has been Christine's rock throughout the divorce ordeal. If Kevin has a problem with that, that's on him." The split led to an ugly battle in court, with Baumgartner requesting $248,000 in monthly child support and access to Costner's financial documents before the judge decided on $63,209. Since the legal proceedings ended, both parties have moved past their hurt feelings and, for the sake of their children, are keeping things cordial.
