Marie Osmond is officially 67 years old today (and no, we're not going to make the obvious trendy joke about that). Born in Ogden, Utah, on Oct. 13, 1959 — which was coincidentally also her father's 42nd birthday — Marie is the second-youngest of the nine Osmond kids, having been born in between brothers Donny and James. While almost the entire Osmond family spent time in the spotlight over the years, it was Donny and Marie who ultimately emerged as the two most famous members. Marie, in particular, has had an extraordinarily successful (and impressively varied) career, spanning most of her six and a half decades.

The singer, pictured above performing in December 2022, was just a month away from her 14th birthday when she dropped her debut studio album, "Paper Roses," in September 1973. Shortly afterwards, Marie got to celebrate in the best way possible — with the album reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, while the title track did the same on the Hot Country Songs chart. Not too shabby for someone who wasn't even old enough to drive at the time.

Following her big solo debut, Marie began collaborating with older brother Donny. Their debut album as a duo, "I'm Leaving It All Up to You," arrived in 1974. By 1976, the lovable duo was hosting their very own variety show on ABC, fittingly titled "Donny & Marie." That series wrapped up in 1979, though Marie landed a solo variety show on NBC the following year. That was hardly the end of her onscreen career, as she later landed a number of TV hosting and acting jobs.

Marie Osmond doesn't see herself ever retiring

Marie Osmond began her entertainment career when she was just a child, and she hasn't really slowed down in the years since. Her 12th and most recent solo album, "Unexpected," only dropped a few years ago, in 2021. It was also around that time that Marie starred in a trilogy of Lifetime original Christmas movies, proving that her ability to work in front of the camera certainly hasn't gone away, either. In 2024, Marie got back to her '70s variety-show roots by co-hosting an episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show" alongside (who else?) Drew Barrymore, who gamely donned full Donny Osmond cosplay for the occasion.

"I never thought I'd be working my entire life. I have never taken a year off," Marie proudly told ABC News in September 2019. "There were a lot of things at play. I was planning on being retired in my twenties and being married and having a family. But we lost everything financially," she continued, referring to a tragic chapter in Osmond family history when they faced financial ruin in the '80s. As Marie concluded, "It seems like God never wanted me to stop. And then work became my safe place."

In a March 2021 chat with Closer Weekly, Marie suggested that, considering the fact that she's worked in showbusiness her entire life, full-on retirement is something that may not suit her. "I've worked since I was 3 years old consistently. [One day] I'll probably be a funny little old lady character on Broadway. Or Betty White, who I love. Those funny little crazy parts that she plays — maybe I'll end up doing that if people are still interested in me," she opined, reasoning, "I love bringing joy to people."
