What Chicago Fire Star Taylor Kinney's Exes Have Said About Him
Taylor Kinney, who's been one of the stars of NBC's "Chicago Fire" since the hit show's 2012 debut, has enjoyed a rather short but still fascinating public dating history. Since 2024, Kinney has been married to the absolutely stunning Ashley Cruger, whom he began dating sometime in early 2022. Before they got together, however, the "Chicago Fire" star was actually engaged to be married to none other than Lady Gaga. It didn't work out, obviously, and the iconic pop star was careful to issue a measured statement regarding Kinney after their relationship ended.
That being said, the "Born This Way" hitmaker was hardly the only one of Kinney's exes to make their thoughts on him clear post-breakup. In July 2016, about a year and a half after Kinney popped the question to Gaga, his rep confirmed to People that the celebrity couple had decided to take "a break," which would ultimately prove to be permanent. Another source dished that Kinney and Gaga working in different states had put a strain on their relationship, which brings us to her comments on the matter.
On the very same day the People article dropped, the "Bad Romance" hitmaker wrote on Instagram, "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates," noting that, just like any couple, Gaga and Kinney had experienced some "ups and downs" over the course of their romance. "We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared," she continued, adding, "Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other." Sadly, a reunion was simply not in the cards.
Taylor Kinney's other ex-girlfriend sounded off after his Lady Gaga breakup
While Lady Gaga's remarks about former fiancé Taylor Kinney and their breakup suggested a relatively amicable split, another of the actor's exes was far less charitable with her take. Brittany Sackett, a woman who had dated Kinney prior to his relationship with Gaga — and, in fact, claimed that the "Chicago Fire" star had actually cheated on her with the Grammy-winning superstar — did not hold back while speaking with the Daily Mail shortly after the news broke that Kinney and Gaga were dunzo.
"I am sad that it didn't work out for them but truthfully I'm not surprised," she admitted at the time, going on to put Kinney on blast for his alleged infidelity. "People that cheat and then don't come clean about it, but leave it for the other to find out don't hold honesty and open communication as a main value in their relationship," Sackett proclaimed. "Taylor is weak-willed and disloyal, it wouldn't surprise me if he betrayed her too." But while Sackett certainly had some harsh words for Kinney, Gaga herself doesn't seem to harbor any hard feelings towards him.
In the years since she and Kinney called off their wedding, the "Poker Face" hitmaker has maintained a rather even-tempered attitude about the whole thing, even cracking a joke about it while speaking at a campaign rally for then-presidential nominee Joe Biden back in November 2020. "I was engaged to a man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I know, I know, it didn't work out. I loved him so much but it just did not work out," Gaga shared (via People), adding, "But I still love me Pennsylvania guy. I love Joe, so Joe's my new Pennsylvania guy."
