They're Back!: Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's First UK Couples Outing Made One Thing Perfectly Clear
After living in the United States for years, the United Kingdom's prodigal son and his wife have returned home and are getting back in the swing of things. On October 15, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made their first joint appearance since moving back to the U.K., taking a trip to Nottingham, England, where local admirers and the press were there to welcome them. The Sussexes were in the area to pay a visit to the charity organization The Community Recording Studio (CRS), and made time to stop for photos and say hello to the people who came out to see them. Based on the reactions, the people are happy to have the Duke and Duchess of Sussex back home.
One woman was able to share a moment with Meghan, giving the duchess flowers. She shared a photo on X, revealing that she told Meghan "to ignore the press and remember that she is loved." Another person who managed to meet the couple capturing the moment in a video that shows a smiling Roworth shaking hands with both of them. It was captioned, "I've told Prince Harry that I have a lot of respect for how he's dealt with the press." Meanwhile, another video showed Meghan talking to the crowd, telling them, "It's great to be back" while Prince Harry is busy giving kids high-fives in the background.
While this was Meghan's first time going to CRS, Harry has visited often, with the CEO and co-founder Trevor Rose telling People, "We're used to him coming and always having a big impact when he comes... But for him to want to bring Meg as well and to hear that she wanted to find out more about what we are and what we do is incredible."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Nottingham visit called back to their past lives in the UK
The Community Recording Studio was just one stop on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's trip to Nottingham. The couple also made time to visit Himmah Hub, a community kitchen that holds a special place in Meghan's heart. Meghan first worked with the group in 2018 as one of her first official acts as a member of the royal family. In a video captured on Instagram, Meghan and the women she worked with all those years ago shared excited hugs, with the royal exclaiming, "It's been too long!" But Nottingham also holds a deeper meaning for the couple: it was the place they first visited after announcing their engagement in 2017. Of course, for a couple that seems to be constantly caught up in some sort of drama, even that momentous occasion had some issues.
While the people of Nottingham came out to welcome Prince Harry and Meghan Markle home, rumors have spread that the public actions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not as popular inside Buckingham Palace. After word broke that the couple was moving back to England, King Charles III erased any confusion about their royal status, but the prince and his wife may not have gotten the message. Talking with Fox News Digital, Kinsey Schofield said that the royal family is frustrated with the way Harry and Meghan are acting, going on to say, "The Sussexes appear increasingly determined to recreate the optics of royal life without the responsibilities that come with it ... It's royal theatre without royal authority." This kind of disconnect may be one of the reasons Harry and Meghan reportedly won't be celebrating the holidays with his father.
