Vanessa Trump: What Is Donald Trump Jr.'s Ex-Wife Doing Now?

Whatever happened to Vanessa Trump? The former model and Donald Trump Jr. split up in 2018, with Vanessa seeking an uncontested divorce. "After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways," they said in a statement (via The New York Times). "We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time."

While the split seemed amicable, sources told Page Six that it was anything but and that Vanessa was deeply unhappy for much of her marriage. "He treats her like a second-class citizen," one source said. Another added, "He gives her very little help and has been keeping her on a tight budget. She doesn't live a lavish life and can very rarely pick up a check at dinner."

A spokesperson for Vanessa denied the allegations, although Vanessa herself has not shed light on the situation.

Vanessa Trump is focused on her family

Since the split, Vanessa seems to have done her best to stay out of the limelight. She seems to be avoiding interviews and public appearances, and appears to be focusing on her family. She is still going by her married name — at least on social media, where her Twitter handle is @MrsVanessaTrump.

Vanessa's tweets are sporadic, and don't divulge many personal details. Her posts are usually about her family, and often include pictures of her children. "I'm a mother of five amazing kids," reads her bio. "My children are my life!"

Months can pass between posts from Vanessa. At the end of 2019, she shared a photo on Twitter of herself and her kids visiting Santa at Trump Tower. Several days later, she shared a Christmas greeting in a tweet, accompanied by more family photos. After that, she didn't post for months, only coming back to the platform in May to open up about homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic. "I've been home schooling my 5 kids alone for the past 60 days ages 5 to 13," she tweeted. "I tip my hat to all the caregivers and parents out there that are doing their best to teach their children; it's definitely not easy!" In a follow up tweet she added, "I praise all the teachers and schools that are trying to make remote learning fun and as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances. We will all get through this! As a mom of 5, the only way this works is making learning fun!"

Vanessa Trump seems to be on good terms with her former in-laws

Vanessa and her ex-husband seem to be getting along, and she also seems to be on good terms with his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle. In December 2019, the president's son revealed that Vanessa had cooked a second Thanksgiving meal for them and for the kids. "The kids apparently didn't get enough of Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving and wanted more turkey so we (Vanessa gets full cooking credit) made one more Thanksgiving turkey today for all the kids," he wrote on Instagram.

Vanessa seems to be supportive of the Trumps, and even posted a birthday tribute to her former father-in-law on Twitter in 2019 — although she didn't post a similar greeting in 2020. While she hasn't been tweeting much, she has liked a number of tweets from her former father-in-law and his wife, Melania Trump. She also liked several tweets paying tribute to President Trump's late brother, Robert Trump, including a tweet from the president himself honoring his sibling.

Vanessa Trump didn't publicly comment on the 2020 election

While the Trump family rallied around Donald Trump during his 2020 re-election campaign, Vanessa remained quiet on social media. In the weeks following her former father-in-law's defeat, she still did not say anything as he refused to concede to Joe Biden. She did like some tweets from the Trump family and those close to them before and after the election, but none of them were particularly politically charged, aside from a tweet from former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Inauguration Day thanking Trump for his presidency.

Vanessa appears to be staying out of Trump politics, but not family events. She spent at least part of the 2020 holiday season with her ex-husband. Donald Jr. posted a series of photos on Instagram at Christmas with the caption "Merry Christmas everyone... From my family to yours we wish you a blessed day." Vanessa can be seen smiling in one of the photos wearing a festive green dress.

Vanessa tweeted a Christmas photo of her own featuring herself and her children. "Have a Merry Christmas from my house to yours!" she wrote.
