The Truth About Terry Bradshaw's Wife, Tammy

Legendary NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradsahw is enjoying a career renaissance of sorts thanks to reality show The Bradshaw Bunch, which is already a major hit on social media. One person described it as "too funny" (via Twitter). And another admitted to being "hooked," advising "Terry Bradshaw is hilarious!" (also via Twitter). The show takes a warts-and-all look at life on Bradshaw's 800-acre ranch, where he's the only dude among women in the form of his loving wife, Tammy, and his three daughters, Rachel, Lacey, and Erin (there are also hundreds of horses, cows, and even a donkey named Snoop Donk).

"I got three girls, which means I have three problems," the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback quipped in the premiere double-episode, according to E! News. Although playful Tammy mostly takes a backseat to the drama, her connection to Bradshaw is keenly felt, and it turns out, their relationship stretches back even further than you might expect.

Tammy is Terry Bradshaw's BFF

Tammy is Bradshaw's fourth wife. As The Cinemaholic notes, it was shared hardship that brought the couple together in 1999, when the retired athlete was suffering with health problems and Tammy, then Tammy Alice, was going through a nasty divorce from ex-husband David Luttrull. They lived together for the following 15 years with their three daughters, including Lacey from Tammy's previous marriage. Bradshaw admitted to Closer Weekly, "[We were both] coming out of bad divorces and when I was getting close to her, I'd run and hide for six weeks, then come running back. I said, 'There's nobody getting their hands around my heart again.'"

Tammy never got impatient, however. They eventually married in 2014, with little fuss. "I passed her in the hallway and said, 'Oh listen, we're getting married Tuesday in Hawaii.' She said OK and we kept going. We get there, and she said, if you're serious, we need to get a license. So we got one," Bradshaw recalled. The NFL icon described it as marrying his "best friend."

Tammy Bradshaw suffered a terrible tragedy

Although Tammy found her soulmate in Bradshaw, back in 2009, she suffered an unimaginable loss. Her son with Luttrull, David Jr., who also went by Cody, died of an accidental heroin overdose on the floor of his mother's home (via MyDeathSpace). His obituary in The Dallas Morning News advises Cody passed away a month ahead of his 24th birthday. He was Tammy's eldest child. "He will be greatly missed and remembered fondly by his family and many friends for his big heart, great sense of humor, and recent excitement over his new job as a train dispatcher with the railroad," it noted.

Heavy reports the Bradshaws have since dedicated themselves to spreading awareness about opioid addiction. They appeared on Celebrity Family Feud in 2019, winning $10,000 for the 525 Foundation, which was launched by fellow parents who lost kids to opioid overdoses. Bradshaw appears as a special guest speaker at their Indiana event every year, while Lacey has hosted fundraisers for the foundation on her Facebook page.
