We Finally Know When Virgin River Season 2 Will Premiere

Cancel those Black Friday shopping plans. Netflix's Virgin River is back for a second season, and you can officially start binging on the romantic adventures of nurse practitioner Mel, played by This Is Us's Alexandra Breckinridge, and bar owner Jack, played by Martin Henderson, on Friday, November 27 (per TVLine). What better way to enjoy a reheated plate of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce leftovers than watching — as Netflix promises — "Engagement. Babies. Heartbreak. Murder." Pass the gravy!

So what can we expect from Mel and Jack's return? "Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) returns to Virgin River and Doc's clinic, realizing she must learn to come to terms with herself and her past before she can truly make this her home," is Netflix's teaser for what's ahead. The first series of Virgin River had 10 episodes, but the entertainment mecca hasn't announced how many to expect this time around. The adventures of the characters in this small, California mountain town are based on a 20-book series written by romance novelist Robyn Carr, so there certainly isn't a dearth of plot twists to weave into this romantic drama (per PopSugar).

New characters will spice up season 2 of Virgin River

If you felt like season 1 of Virgin River seemed like it was setting the stage for a peaceful, "happily ever after" between the wounded-yet-resilient Mel, and her noble and supportive co-star, we have one word for you: Lizzie. Played by Sarah Dugdale, this character is described as "a powder keg of cunning, beauty and unbridled impulsivity, who blows into the small town of Virgin River like a tornado after her parents ship her off in the wake of a shoplifting bust" (per Deadline). A regular but previously unremarkable character from season 1, Ricky, played by Grayson Gurney, gets embroiled in the drama, and his boss, Jack, along with Mel, have to save Virgin River from the fallout.

Another new addition is the character Mike Valenzuela, played by Marco Grazzini, who was a regular on the comedy "Kim's Convenience" (per IMDb). Netflix hasn't explained how Mike will be part of the plot of season 2, but the Virgin River Instagram account captioned a photo of a smoldering-eyed Grazzini with the words, "Season 2 ... Mike Valenzuela bringing 'hotness' to Virgin River!" Stay tuned!
