Inside Bella Thorne's Relationship With Tana Mongeau

Bella Thorne made headlines in early 2019 when she posted a series of photos of herself crying on Instagram, apparently upset by the fact her ex-girlfriend, Tana Mongeau, had gotten engaged to YouTube star Jake Paul. The Infamous actress was heartbroken and not afraid to show it, while Mongeau seemingly moved on at lightening speed into a full-blown marriage.

Thorne, who came out as bisexual in 2016, made waves with her new partnership to Mongeau, who already made a public name for herself as a YouTube sensation. After more than a year of dating, being in a throuple relationship with rapper Mod Sun, and posting a slew of PDA-ridden posts to social media, fans were disheartened to learn that the two had called it quits. What went in to their relationship and why did it ultimately break down?

Here's how the romance between the former Disney star and popular vlogger and what happened after they ultimately went their separate ways.

Bella Thorne and Tana Mongeau started dating in 2017

Fans went wild at the prospect of the new couple after the pair confirmed they were dating via social media. Mongeau captioned a post  "mineeee" on Instagram of she and Thorne kissing. Meanwhile, Thorne shared the details of the new romance to her Twitter feed as well, kneeling on the ground at what appeared to be a music festival as Mongeau had her hand around Thorne's neck. "When you find a girl who knows what you like :)," Thorne wrote on the post.

The couple's internet PDA didn't stop there, as the pair continued to document their relationship antics on social media when Thorne turned 20 that year. "ur weird i'm weird i like u," Mongeau captioned a racy video posted to Instagram. Mongeau continued with more snaps from the birthday shenanigan's, showing the couple curled up on the floor. "what do u do after the longest birthday night ever? lay on the floor of the restaurant," Mongeau wrote. "happy birthday Annabella, I f***ing adore you... see u in like an hour lmao[.]"

Bella was in a 'throuple' with Tana and Mod Sun

Both Thorne and Mongeau both aim for unconventional lifestyles, and therefore opted for a "throuple"-type relationship versus a typical monogamous twosome. In a 2017 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Thorne confirmed the three-way relationship with herself, Mongeau, and musician Mod Sun, and the Times noted how the "hippy hoppy" star was known to serenade Thorne's private parts at his concerts.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2018, Thorne commented on what attracted her to the rapper. "It was definitely meeting someone that's just so happy," she said. "That's his whole thing and for me coming from someone who's a little bit glass half-empty, it really is nice for me to have someone on my back that's like, 'No, it's good, it's good, it's good,' even when it's bad. You're always your harshest critic, [and] your significant other — those are the people that build you up."

"I definitely have changed so much of my mindset," she added concerning if Sun had made her happier. "Or when I see me going towards the negative, I'm like, 'Bella, go towards the positive.'"

The Famous in Love star documented her split from Sun in April 2019. "I will always love you. All good things must come to an end," she captioned the Instagram post of herself in the mirror and Sun in the background.

Bella Thorne and Tana Mongeau called it quits in 2019

For Thorne and Mongeau's one-year anniversary in September 2018, Mongeau posted a sweet, lengthy tribute to her partner. "You are the most perfect, incredible, talented, confident, resilient, STRONG, SELFLESS individual I've ever met and every second I spend with you I'm inspired and grateful," she wrote (via Instagram). "Here's to a year with the girl that made me realize that for me, love has no gender or boundaries."

Although the two looked happy in love in the post, by February 2019, the duo called it quits after a little more than a year together. Thorne was the first one to tweet out the news while Mongeau followed up with a post of her own, saying there was "no negativity at all."

Despite the sweet sentiment, the pair's love wasn't meant to last. In February 2019, Thorne and Mongeau amicably parted ways after a little over a year together. Thorne was the first to confirm the split by tweeting the news to her followers, writing, "Tana and I aren't together anymore, pls stop asking. We love U guys[.]"

Mongeau followed up shortly with more context about the breakup, adding, "i love her forever don't get that twisted. she changed my life forever. don't rly wanna talk on it.. there's no negativity at all."

Tana gets engaged to Jake Paul as she and Bella fall out

Following the split, Mongeau moved on pretty quick with YouTuber Jake Paul, getting engaged and announcing the news on Twitter. "JAKE JUST PROPOSED," she tweeted, then writing an hour later, "I'm....... Engaged........." (per People). In April 2019 (just one month after breaking up with Thorne), Paul posted a video titled, "meet the girl I've been hiding from you" as he and Mongeau kissed at the end. Fans were confused if the two were together for show, as even Mongeau admitted they should get together "just for the clout" (via Insider).

Meanwhile, in addition to the aforementioned tearful posts from Thorne as a reaction to the engagement, she also went on a Twitter rant, writing that Mongeau "broke the girl code" and that she was "over it." Moments later, Mongeau responded, "????? imagine taking every time ur mad at me to twitter but then telling ppl how much u care about me.................... wtf is this b :/[.]"

The two continued to go back and forth a bit, causing fans to wonder about what "girl code" was all about. Per Buzzfeed, Mongeau and Thorne's ex, Mod Sun, were apparently pictured together getting dinner post-breakup with Thorne, which fans believe is what set Thorne off.

At this time of writing, Thorne has reportedly moved on with musician Benjamin Mascolo (per People) while Mongeau married and split from Paul and is now linked to Miley Cyrus' younger sister, Noah (via Instagram).
