Kristen Stewart's Uncanny Resemblance To Princess Diana Has People Talking

Actress Kristen Stewart is perhaps best known for playing an angst-ridden teen, Bella Swan, in the Twilight movies (via Biography). So, imagining her as a composed, thirtysomething Princess Diana seems like a stretch, to put it mildly. This is why fans won't believe how much the 30-year-old — yup, Stewart has grown up — looks exactly like the ill-fated royal in a sneak peek of the upcoming movie, Spencer (via Variety).

The film, which according to IMDb centers around Diana's decision to end her marriage to Prince Charles over the Christmas holiday, is currently filming in Germany. About her role as the iconic royal figure Stewart has said, "Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life. It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name: Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her."

Social media reacts to Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana

Many fans took to Twitter to express their disbelief over how much Stewart looks like the people's princess in the image that ws just released. "Just by looking at this uncanny resemblance. Imagine how great of a movie #spencer will be. #KristenStewart," one commented. Another agreed, tweeting, "I think this is a very very strong start for #KristenStewart & #Spencer! The resemblance to #PrincessDiana is uncanny in a way I didn't expect."

To be fair, not everyone agrees that Stewart's resemblance to Diana is on point, with one person tweeting, "#KristenStewart looks like the girl who played #DianaSpencer in the crown > that's about it." Of course, a reference is being made to actress Emma Corrin, who was widely praised for her portrayal of Princess Diana on the Netflix show, The Crown.

Ultimately, we'll have to wait until Spencer comes out in the fall of this year before we can judge for sure how closely Stewart captures Diana.
