Britney Spears' Fans Are Furious With Justin Timberlake. Here's Why
Britney Spears' fans aren't too happy with Justin Timberlake after the recent release of a New York Times documentary, titled Framing Britney Spears. After fans watched the film examine Spears' mental health struggles and conservatorship battle with dad Jamie Spears, along with the singer's decades-old relationship with the NSYNC star, who is now married to actress Jessica Biel and raising two kids, a number of longtime supporters of Spears flooded Timberlake with comments, slamming him for suggesting she cheated on him years ago.
"Justin Timberlake needs to get his apology ready," one person wrote, per a Feb. 8 Page Six report, while another added, "Watching Framing Britney Spears is a pretty easy way to feel angry about misogyny, Justin Timberlake, and how we rake every girl and young woman in the spotlight over the coals!" Justin Timberlake seemingly used a song to promote cheating rumors
After rumors began swirling following Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's split, which suggested Spears had been unfaithful to her former boyfriend, Timberlake seemingly fueled the allegations by releasing "Cry Me a River" in 2002 and following it up with a music video in which a blond actress was sneaking around behind his back. Then, the following year, Spears faced tough questions from Diane Sawyer in regard to what had happened between them to end their romance.
"You broke his heart, you did something that caused him so much pain, so much suffering. What did you do?" Sawyer asked, bringing Spears to tears.
While Spears fans may never know what truly led to the end of her relationship with Timberlake, they are hoping they will soon see her released from the conservatorship she is currently under and have continued to promote the #FreeBritney campaign on social media while also holding protests in her honor. As fans may know, Jamie Spears has been in control of his daughter's finances for over a decade.
