The Truth About Kimberly Guilfoyle's Feelings Toward Donald Trump Jr.

Former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle's relationship with Donald Trump Jr. has made headlines since they first got together in 2018, following Trump Jr.'s divorce from ex Vanessa that same year. The couple both bring children from their past marriages, and make it work both in and out of their careers. Recently, Guilfoyle was asked by Jean Shafiroff on the Hamptons TV show Successful Philanthropy all about her relationship with Trump Jr., and we're pretty shocked at her answers!

Even though the couple started their relationship in 2018, they've known each other for 14 years, so have had the time to truly get to know each other. Guilfoyle revealed that Trump Jr. is "a very funny person," noting that he has "a great sense of humor and a big heart. He's actually one of the sweetest men that I've ever had the pleasure to know and have in my life ... and I feel very blessed to have him in my life, and that we have one another" (via Page Six). Clearly, their relationship is pretty romantic — but do they see each other as true life partners?

How would Kimberly Guilfoyle react to a proposal from Donald Trump Jr.?

In the interview, Jean Shafiroff asked Kimberly Guilfoyle how she would react if Trump Jr. popped the question, and she replied, "We're very committed and very in love... He is my sweetheart. I already feel married and committed to him, 100 percent. Being his wife would be something that, of course, would be something that I think would be fantastic. I absolutely adore the family ... I already feel married to him" (via Page Six). In short, we know what her answer would be if the younger Donald Trump asked her to marry him, but they're both comfortable with taking it slow.

Guilfoyle continued, saying that Trump Jr. and her "are a team... we support each other, we're best friends, we have great conversations and a lot of laughs together. It's great we have such a strong relationship. It's never wavered." With strength and commitment at the forefront, it's possible that wedding bells will be ringing soon, especially with their new move to Florida on the horizon. According to the New York Post, the couple is looking for homes in Jupiter, close to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump's new "$30 million lot."

About the move, Guilfoyle told Shafiroff she's "looking forward to all the family being here together," saying that Florida is "a wonderful state."

Donald Trump didn't take to Guilfoyle right away

While Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle look like the perfect GOP couple today, things could not have been more different when they first started out. In its profile of the Trump children, The Atlantic reports that while Donald Trump wasn't too keen on Don Jr'.s first wife Vanessa, he was less so about the former Fox anchor, who was married to liberal California governor Gavin Newsom.

Her introduction to the Trump family ecosystem didn't happen when she started dating Don Jr. — she had actually wanted to work at the White House long before, and was gunning for Sean Spicer's job as press secretary (via Mercury News). But it appeared Trump wasn't interested in taking her on, and she didn't become a part of Team Trump until she became Don Jr.'s girlfriend in April of 2018 (via Elle). Her early appearances weren't considered too successful within the family either, because her attendance appeared to take attention away from Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.

The Atlantic mentions two possible reasons why Kimberly Guilfoyle may have got on the president's bad side early on. The elder Trump was either tired of the distraction generated by the relationship — the couple referred to themselves as "Donberly" — or they made him uncomfortable because, as a Trump aide has revealed, the former President had in the past made comments about how attractive he thought Guilfoyle was.

Guilfoyle says 'I believe in great love'

Donald Trump appears to have put whatever opposition he might have had toward the idea of Don Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle as a couple behind him, because in April of 2019, she officially became part of Trump's re-election campaign as a senior adviser; and prior to that, she had been vice chair for a pro-Trump super PAC.

Before she and Don Jr. had talked about moving to Florida, the couple looked into — and subsequently bought — a $4.5 million seven-bedroom vacation home in the Hamptons (via Insider). At about the same time, Guilfoyle was also spotted looking at wedding dresses at a bridal fashion show by designer Mira Zwillinger. When asked whether being seen at the event was asking for trouble, the twice-married Guilfoyle told Woman's Wear Daily, "I am a super romantic at heart. I believe in great love, so I always have my heart open and my calendar available."
