After Meghan Markle penned a revealing and raw piece for The New York Times about her heartbreaking miscarriage back in November, fans of the royal couple were overjoyed to learn that Harry and Meghan are now expecting their second child. The couple announced their happy news on Valentines Day by releasing a photograph of themselves lounging happily beneath what is known as a "fertility tree" at their home in Montecito, CA (via Daily Mail). The photo was taken by a friend of the couple, photographer Misan Harriman. A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry said, "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. Unlike the announcement when Meghan was pregnant with the couple's first child, Archie, the statement did not include a due date. One unnamed source tells The Daily Mail that Meghan and Harry "already know the sex of their baby," and went on to say that the royal couple is likely to steer clear of classically royal names since they are no longer under the same pressures as they were before relinquishing their roles as senior royals. While this royal expects a Victorian-era name to be the couple's top choice, others have different ideas. While the Victorian names the expert gave included "color" names for a boy, like Grey or Red (short for Redmond), girl names tended more toward flowers like Daisy, Primrose, Violet, or Ivy. Meanwhile, another source bets more heavily on names like Alfie for a boy or Alexandra for a girl. Diana, of course, is what many speculate a girl could be named, in honor of Harry's late and beloved mother.
There is also discussion about whether plans for Meghan's pre-birth celebrations are underway, and who might be planing the festivities. Some speculate Oprah could be involved in the shower, while others think Meghan's closest friends may be vying for the job. After her shockingly lavish baby shower for Archie, most experts agree that in COVID times, such an event is likely to be more subdued and perhaps even hosted at the couple's home (via The Daily Mail).
