Bryce Dallas Howard Is Getting Roasted By Twitter. Here's Why

We all make fashion missteps and, at worst, they end up memorialized on social media. Of course, the stakes are a little higher for Golden Globes attendees — especially nominees, winners, and presenters. This was the case for Bryce Dallas Howard, who Twitter users agree probably could have picked a better outfit.

Howard, who was a presenter at the 2021 Golden Globes, wore a form fitting sparkly metallic dress with a somewhat confusing color scheme. Needless to say, Twitter had a lot of thoughts to share.

"Came here to see when Bryce Dallas Howard's dress choice starts trending," tweeted one user. "Several people should be unemployed tomorrow."

"Bryce Dallas Howard looks like she just flew in from Krypton," another tweeted

Many noted that it was a particularly jarring moment to go from a beautiful speech given by Chadwick Boseman's widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, to seeing Howard's strange dress choice. "Absolutely wrenching speech by Chadwick's widow immediately segued into "a director from The Mandolorian, BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD!" — worst kind of whiplash," one user tweeted.

Bryce Dallas Howard posted about her dress before presenting

Before Howard took the stage and subsequently got roasted on Twitter, she posted photos of her dress to Twitter and Instagram and explained how and why she chose the look.

"As many of you know, I love the sustainability of consignment fashion and often find secondhand pieces for press. When I found out I was presenting at the #GoldenGlobes, I immediately went back to my tried and true friend, @therealreal!" Howard captioned her Instagram post.

She went on to say that the "sequin ombré dress (which matches my hair!)" was designed by Temperley London and she paired it with magenta Alexander McQueen pumps that she wore on a press tour a few years ago. Howard also explained that she did her hair and makeup herself, with some virtual assistance.

⁣"And for hair and makeup, tonight seemed like the perfect night to put my own skills to the test — thank you @mrjasonlow and @vivianbaker for your incredible virtual direction! ⁣" she wrote.

Howard's look may not have been for everyone, but we can all at least applaud her commitment to sustainability. And part of fashion is taking risks, so it's inevitable that you won't land on the "Best Dressed" list for every single event you attend.
