The Truth About Alison Brie And Dave Franco's Marriage

Alison Brie and Dave Franco are now one of Hollywood's hottest couples thanks to Brie's starring turn in Promising Young Woman, a Golden Globe nominee for Best Drama (via Good Morning America), and Franco's action-packed Netflix thriller, 6 Underground. And while you may be hip to the pair's secret marriage ceremony back in March 2017, per Brides – you may not know exactly how the union came together.

The couple initially met through mutual friends in March 2011. According to Brie's July 2020 appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the attraction was instant (via TooFab). "It was 48 hours of drugs and sex, a lot of making out." However, their relationship didn't surface publicly until May 2012 when the couple was spotted holding hands while grocery shopping together in West Hollywood, according to Us Weekly. While the couple never commented directly on the report, they did snuggle up for photos at the Dior Homme Fashion Show in 2015, officially placing the duo on Hollywood's radar (via Just Jared Jr.).

Alison Brie and Dave Franco took their relationship slowly

In August 2015, after three years of dating, the couple announced their engagement. Franco popped the question with an Irene Neuwirth–designed rose-gold ring set with rose-cut and pavé diamonds, according to Us Weekly. Prior to the wedding, both remained mum about the details, but Brie revealed that she'd like to keep things simple. "I'm not very bridal, instinctually," she told Yahoo! Life. "Marriage never really interested me, I guess because I was very focused on my work. I wasn't sure if I really saw the point to it. I bought a dress on Net-a-Porter, and I'm like, 'Maybe I'll wear that.'"

Bridezilla or not, Brie and Franco tied the knot in March 2017 with Franco simply describing the ceremony to Entertainment Tonight as "special" and "intimate." Many hope the couple will move forward and have children, but Brie recently stated she'd prefer to wait until Glow finishes its run. But with the Netflix's wrestling drama's recent cancellation, we can all look forward to the couple maybe changing their plans.
