The Megastar Who Is Replacing Nick Jonas On The Voice

Nick Jonas is a huge fan-favorite judge on The Voice. The singer, who is one-third of the popular trio The Jonas Brothers, signed on to be a judge during Season 18, which aired in early 2020 (via CNN). Jonas replaced Gwen Stefani on the panel, which also included original judge Blake Shelton and fellow singers Kelly Clarkson and John Legend. Jonas returned for Season 20 of the NBC singing series. However, he's planning to take a break during Season 21.

Jonas is set to have a busy schedule as he's has plans to star in a new thriller titled The Blacksmith alongside actor Laurence Fishburne. His new movie, Chaos Walking, which co-stars Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley and Spiderman star Tom Holland is also set to debut. Following the announcement that Jonas wouldn't be back for Season 21, fans were surprised and thrilled when they learned which megastar would be taking his place in the red swivel chair.

Nick Jonas' replacement has legions of fans

While fans of The Voice will surely miss Nick Jonas, a huge music superstar has been tapped to take his spot. None other than Ariana Grande is joining the panel for Season 21. The singer made the surprising announcement on March 30, per Us Weekly. "Surprise !!! I am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice! @nickjonas we will miss you," Grande posted on her Instagram, along with a photo of herself sitting on the arm of the iconic red chair.

"I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time," the pop star said in a statement. "I can't wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists and help to take their craft to the next level."

Of course, the network is also ecstatic to land Grande as a judge. "[Ariana's] unmatched vocal skills, creativity and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists. We were thrilled to learn that she is a true fan of The Voice and know that this enthusiasm will add to her impact as a dynamic coach," NBC exec Jenny Groom said about the new member of their TV family (via Us Weekly). Season 20 of the show featuring Jonas, currently airs Monday nights.
