Whatever Happened To Lavender From Matilda

Matilda is one of the most beloved children's movies of all time. Adapted from Roald Dahl's 1988 classic book of the same name, the film, which stars Danny DeVito, Mara Wilson, Rhea Pearlman, and more, has been a staple in millennials' film libraries for decades. It's hard to forget certain scenes from the movie, like the iconic chocolate cake scene or when Matilda used her powers to make Amanda, the little girl Ms. Trunchbull flung out of a window, fly around the schoolyard.

One of the sweetest characters in the film – besides Ms. Honey, of course – is Lavender, Matilda's cute-but-quirky pal who befriended her on her first day of school. The role of Lavender was played by model, actress, and musician Kiami Davael, and since the film is coming up on its 25th anniversary in July this year, we were curious what Davael is up to today.

Kiami Davael, aka Lavender, is still in the entertainment industry

Matilda may have been Kiami Davael's first credited acting gig, but after the film's 1996 premiere, she landed a few more roles on various projects, including roles on The Pretender, Moesha, In The House, The Steve Harvey Show, Bruno, and even had a role in Adam Sandler's family film, Grown Ups (via IMDb). Although her last acting credit was in 2000, one scroll through her Instagram page will show you that she's a multi-faceted performer who still books a variety of gigs.

Most recently, it looks like the Matilda alum has been performing at comedy clubs, and was also featured on The Love to Laugh Podcast in December of last year. According to her Instagram bio, Davael describes herself as a "daughter, sister, and child of the most High God." It would appear that family is definitely important to her, and religion is paramount in her life. All in all, it looks like Davael has had a pretty successful life after her Matilda glory days, and from the looks of it, she's on her way to being even more successful in the future!
