Will Luke Wilson Be In Legally Blonde 3?

Luke Wilson starred as Reese Witherspoon's love interest in 2001's Legally Blonde and the series' 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde. So, when it comes to the upcoming installment of the popular franchise, Legally Blonde 3, it seems only fair that he'd be included, especially considering he was seen during the cast's virtual reunion in October 2020.

Unfortunately, as Elle shared, despite being present when the film's premiere date of May 2022 was officially announced, Wilson, who played Emmett Richmond, Witherspoon's character Elle Woods' husband, hasn't officially been confirmed as part of the film. That said, he did confirm he would be on board if approached, which he likely will, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight in May 2020.

"I have not talked to Reese about it, but yeah I always kind of hear rumors here and there," he told the outlet. "Never anything official about them doing another Legally Blonde, but I'd love to do another one."

"I mean, just that character Reese played was so funny at the time and that has kind of become this iconic character now," Wilson continued to Entertainment Tonight.

During the interview, Wilson also offered a few ideas for the concept of Legally Blonde 3.

"I would say they definitely have a few children and I just think that it'd be really funny if Reese had a little mini-me, a version of herself," he shared. "I would definitely think that they'd have a couple of children."

As for who else will be a part of the franchise's third installment, Elle revealed that several other cast members participated in the cast's October 2020 reunion, including Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette Bonafonté), Selma Blair (Vivian Kensington), Jessica Cauffiel (Margot), Matthew Davis (Warner Huntington III), Ali Larter (Brooke Taylor Windham), Holland Taylor (Professor Stromwell), and Alanna Ubach (Serena McGuire).

In May 2020, nearly two years after Witherspoon first teased the film on her Instagram page, Deadline confirmed Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor would be teaming up on the script.
