Did Britney Spears' Father Really Say These Things About Her?

Last month, Britney Spears made bombshell claims about her father, Jamie Spears, as she spoke out about her conservatorship during a hearing on June 23, per Variety. The "Toxic" singer asked judge Brenda Penny to remove her father from the conservatorship and end the 13-year legal restraint altogether. Britney claimed that Jamie enjoyed making her life decisions and even forced her to work when she didn't want to. "The control he had over someone as powerful as me — he loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%. He loved it," Britney said of her father. "My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship and my management who played a huge role in punishing me when I said no — they should be in jail," the singer added.

During her statement, Britney also admitted that the conservatorship has prevented her from getting married and having any more children. "I deserve to have a life. I've worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three year break and just, you know, do what I want to do. I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone. And I'm tired of feeling alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does, by having a child, a family, any of those things, and more so," the singer stated. Now, one Spears family friend claims that Jamie's treatment of Britney may have been worse than she admitted.

Jamie was reportedly abusive towards Britney

Britney Spears was verbally abused by her father, Jamie Spears, during the early days of her conservatorship, according to Jacqueline Butcher, a close friend of the Spears family. Butcher revealed to The New Yorker that Jamie repeatedly said hurtful things to his daughter after he was named her conservator following Britney's 2008 public breakdown. "Jamie said, 'Baby' ... and I thought he was going to say, 'We love you,' but what he said was, 'You're fat. Daddy's gonna get you on a diet and a trainer, and you're gonna get back in shape,'" Butcher told the outlet, per Page Six.

Butcher also admitted that it was Jamie that organized Britney's comeback with a guest spot on "How I Met Our Mother." Sadly, instead of encouraging his daughter to get back to work, Butcher says that Jamie berated her. "He would get all in her face — spittle was flying — telling her she was a whore and a terrible mother," Butcher claimed. The family friend also revealed that Jamie would tell Britney that she wouldn't be allowed to see her children if she didn't follow orders. Meanwhile, Butcher says that Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, advised her daughter to listen to her father in hopes of getting her out of the conservatorship. Butcher also admitted that Jamie had so much power over his daughter that he would often say "I am Britney Spears." Fans are now calling for Britney to be released from her conservatorship in hopes that she'll finally be free to make her own decisions and live her life without restraints.
