The Special Meaning Behind Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton's Wedding Venue

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani delighted their fans when they revealed that they had tied the knot over the Fourth of July weekend. The longtime couple walked down the aisle in Shelton's home state of Oklahoma with only their closest friends and family members in attendance for the big day (via People). Stefani wore a designer Vera Wang dress, which included a long, flowing veil that she had customized to include her name, Shelton's name, and the names of her three sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo, as a nod to her new blended family, per Fox News.

In addition, Stefani sweetly paid tribute to her own parents' wedding day with the cake that she and Shelton chose for their reception. Today reports that while the couple's cake topper shared a stunning likeness to the singers, the cake itself was a tribute to Stefani's family history. The singer chose the Dallas-based bakery, Fancy Cakes By Lauren, to recreate the cake from her parents' wedding day. "This wasn't just a wedding cake we made for two superstars," the bakery shared online along with a photo of the cake. "Our bride wanted to make a sentimental statement by recreating her parent's wedding cake. Both of Gwen's parents were there to see her honor them with this cake." In fact, the entire day was about family for Stefani and Shelton.

The real reason Blake and Gwen married in Oklahoma

People Magazine reports that family was the backbone of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's wedding day. Shelton even had a special chapel built in the backyard of his Oklahoma home for the purpose of marrying his bride in privacy with only a small number of their close friends and family members there to celebrate the big day. "Their shared faith is very important. Having the wedding at home was a way for their families — and Gwen — to be as comfortable as possible. Blake wanted the day to be perfect for Gwen. His love for her is so deep," a source told the outlet of the couple's choice to marry at their home.

"They purposely kept the wedding simple. They didn't want a circus. In the end, they just wanted to have this moment with their loved ones. They're a very family-oriented couple, and that's exactly what the wedding was about. Family was at the center of everything," the insider added. The source also revealed that the ceremony was largely for the benefit of their families, as Shelton and Stefani have already felt like they're married over the years. "They already felt like husband and wife long before the wedding and have been operating as life partners. This day was a formality that was important to the whole family," the insider explained. Stefani has already shared some amazing photos from her wedding day, and fans have been loving the inside look they've been given into the couple's big day.
