How To Replicate Dua Lipa's Makeup Routine

Dua Lipa is the uncontested queen of pop, and there's no stopping her music trajectory. She spent all of 2020 releasing feel-good music and used her time during the COVID-19 quarantine to connect with her fans in creative ways, while also doing socially-distanced promo for her album "Future Nostalgia" (via Highsnobiety). Her stripped-down (and virtual) performance for NPR's popular "Tiny Desk" YouTube series was viewed over 42 million times. Dua Lipa also singlehandedly brought back '80s/'90s dance pop with high-energy tracks "Break My Heart," "Physical," and "Love Again," which sampled U.K. singer-songwriter Jyoti Prakash Mishra's (stage name White Town) classic 1997 hit "Your Woman, per Genius.

Dua Lipa's "nostalgia" for the past goes beyond her music. Her makeup routine has elements of different '90s beauty trends. In an April 2020 Instagram live with makeup artist Lisa Elridge, the "Don't Start Now" singer shared that her go-to lip color is dark brown, which she pairs with a creamy brown eyeshadow (via Capital FM). Per Elle, Lipa also fearlessly brought back the electric blue eyeshadow trend that we all said goodbye to, and completely made it her own. Her relationship with makeup goes back to her childhood. She told Vogue UK that her mom was one of her biggest beauty inspirations growing up. Never one to misstep when it comes to her gorgeous beauty looks, here's how to re-create her makeup routine.

Dua Lipa starts and ends her day with a clean canvas

Every single one of Dua Lipa's makeup looks starts a conversation and has fans looking everywhere for dupes. You'll be surprised to hear that the singer-songwriter admitted to Elle that she normally goes makeup-free when she's at home and off the clock and spends no more than 15 minutes on her beauty routine. For her morning routine, she preps her skin with a variety of hydrating products, including a cream cleanser, hydrating cream, vitamin B serum and SPF. Though her bold red carpet looks are always so intricate, her everyday makeup routine consists of the basics. "I stick to foundation or concealer, mascara, eyeshadow and bronzer and then I'm out the door," she explained to Elle.

In an interview with Allure, Lipa shared that she prefers anti-shine, matte beauty products, especially after performing on stage for hours. The pop star noticed that traveling dries out her skin, so she makes skincare a priority at night. "I guess it was always important for me to take my makeup off before bed, but now, it's like to a whole 'nother level," she explained (via Allure). "I'm traveling so much, and my skin gets so tired, so anything I can take like eye cream, face cream, face mist, oils — just anything to keep my skin moisturized because flying dries it out."

For pouty lips, she exfoliates using her toothbrush (via Elle) and then applies Glossier's Birthday Balm Dotcom (via Cosmopolitan UK).
