Christina Ricci Shares Exciting Family News

It's been a rough couple years for Christina Ricci, due to the increasingly acrimonious divorce from her ex-husband, James Heerdegen. As Page Six reported at the time, the iconic child star filed for divorce in July 2020, citing irreconcilable differences, after alleging Heerdegen physically attacked her in their family home. Although he wasn't arrested at the time, Ricci did obtain an emergency protective order against Heerdegen. She also sought sole legal and physical custody of their young son.

The "Addams Family" breakout subsequently filed for a restraining order in January, as per TMZ, following extensive abuse claims. Ricci had been planning to leave her husband for a while, but the COVID-19 necessitated lockdown left her trapped at home, for months on end, with her alleged abuser. The actress believed at one point he was capable of killing her. The couple met on the set of "Pan Am" in 2011 and married a couple years later. Thankfully, Ricci has since moved on with her life.

The Addams Family star is expanding her family

Beloved actress Christina Ricci took to Instagram to share that, "Life keeps getting better," because ... she's pregnant. Tagging presumed baby daddy Mark Hampton, the "Casper" star posted a photo of her ultrasound. The hairstylist shared some shots on his own page too, mirroring Ricci's caption. The comments were filled with famous friends sharing in the expectant parents' joy, with "10 Things I Hate About You" star David Krumholtz writing, "Congrats!! Beautiful!!" while Kat Dennings trilled simply, "Oh my god!!!" and Diane Kruger wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS." Ricci has been seeing Hampton quietly for a while, describing him as her "favorite person" on Instagram last month, in honor of the hairdresser's birthday.

She also quipped that the coming year is going to be their best yet, which may have been a knowing nod to the pregnancy, which was then still secret. Speaking to IndieWire in 2019, Ricci opened up about why she's kept to herself more in recent years, admitting, "I had a very hard time with fame as a child, being interviewed and being asked about my life ... No child should be held up for adults to criticize, question, interview, weigh in on. It's the reason we don't have pictures of our children up online. It's the same thing." Similarly, it's unclear how long she and Hampton have been together. Evidently, the actress wants to keep as much of their life together private as possible. But she couldn't resist sharing this happy news with everyone.
