Tarek El Moussa Opens Up About How Stressful It Is To Work With Christina Haack

Working with your ex can't be easy, but, for a long time, Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack seemed to be doing a remarkably good job of it. The former couple continued hosting their hit HGTV show, "Flip or Flop," through their divorce while, offscreen, they also co-parented their children.

However, in July 2021, reports emerged that all was not well between them. TMZ revealed (via Us Weekly) that El Moussa had yelled at Haack on set, unfavorably comparing her to his fiancée, Heather Rae Young, of "Selling Sunset." He reportedly sneered, "Look at me, look at me, look at me. It's called winning," before claiming he "made" Haack and even describing her as a "washed-up loser."

A source subsequently assured People that El Moussa was "super remorseful" about what they described as a disagreement between the exes, who share custody of daughter Taylor and son Brayden. Tellingly, however, the insider revealed, "They're exes who share a history and children and a workplace, but outside of co-parenting, they're not friends." The issue between El Moussa and Haack allegedly occurred after he took offense to how she signaled to him that they were ready to continue filming.

The former couple got married in 2009 and finalized their divorce in 2018. Now, El Moussa is opening up about how tough it is to continue working together.

Tarek El Moussa admitted that working with his ex-wife is often difficult

As the Daily Mail reports, during a recent appearance on "Daily Pop," Tarek El Moussa spoke for the first time about his highly publicized altercation with his ex-wife and colleague, Christina Haack. Acknowledging they had a disagreement, El Moussa refused to go into detail about what really happened between them. However, he seemed to imply they were both at fault, reasoning that there were "choice words said on both sides."

The HGTV host admitted that it can be stressful working alongside his ex-wife, noting that, of the decade they've spent filming "Flip or Flop," five years have been post-breakup. In relation to this most recent incident, El Moussa noted, "I'm sure we both wish the whole thing never happened. I mean, I certainly do."

Moreover, the reality star argued that he's looking to move forward and hopefully never allow something like that to happen again. "I never want to go through that ever again, I never want her to go through that again, and I know one day our kids are going to be older and I want them to know that we still care about each other and we still support each other, and it's really important to me," El Moussa explained. Overall, he acknowledged it was a tough situation all round but that having a positive relationship with Haack will always be imperative.

The former couple was open about the awkwardness of working together

Things might be tough between Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack at the moment, but it's worth remembering how hard they've worked to get to this point. Back in 2018, the recently divorced couple sat down with the "Today" show for a joint interview about the future of "Flip or Flop." As El Moussa explained, "We shot the pilot in summer of 2011, so we've been doing this for a really long time. It's part of who we are and what we do, and for us to just throw everything away, it just wasn't worth it." Haack agreed wholeheartedly, reasoning that, with their kids to consider, "It's just easier to work together and get along."

The HGTV hosts did acknowledge that some days on set are harder than others, and they frequently want to kill each other, they said. Mostly, though, it's plain sailing. On the topic of whether it was easier to work together now they're no longer a couple, El Moussa and Haack jokingly disagreed. She thought it was easier now, and, when El Moussa tried to protest, she quipped, "Just ignore him." He eventually acquiesced, though, suggesting that, even if the exes weren't on the same page, they were at least on a similar one.

Heather Rae Young says it's all good between her and fiance Tarek El Moussa

Tarek El Moussa's tirade against ex-wife Christina Haack was allegedly based on how much hotter his new fiancé, Heather Rae Young, is than her. However, despite the shocking reports coming out about El Moussa losing it on set, the "Selling Sunset" star reassured Us Weekly that all was well in their camp. "People have to remember they're coworkers and they are exes," Young argued. "There's going to be little frustrations here and there."

Their fight might have sounded explosive to outsiders, but Young maintained it wasn't a big deal. "There's a lot going on in all of our worlds, and there's only so much that the world sees," she said. The reality star also reaffirmed El Moussa's position, which was that everybody is simply looking to move on and get back to work. She noted simply, "things come up sometimes," but the kids are the most important thing and remain the trio's focus. "We put everything aside and we focus on the kids," she said. "I stay out of their business."
