The Crown's Josh O'Connor Reacts To Meghan And Harry Watching The Show

This awards season the royal drama "The Crown" has dominated. This past Sunday, season four was nominated for 24 Emmy Awards and took home an impressive seven awards, per The Cut. Olivia Coleman won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Peter Morgan snagged Outstanding Writer in a Drama Series, Josh O'Connor took Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and the entire cast and crew won Best Drama, for the show's very first time. Aside from gaining favor with the critics, "The Crown" is one of the most successful series Netflix series of all time. In 2020, the streaming giant revealed that 73 million households around the world have watched the historical show since it premiered in 2016 (via BBC).

Included in that impressive viewership are two very special people. During their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they've seen parts of "The Crown" (via Independent). O'Connor, who portrayed Prince Charles, in seasons three and four, reacted to this revelation in an interview with ET.

While walking the red carpet at the Emmy Awards, "The Crown" star Josh O'Connor spoke with ET about the impact the series has had on the public. The interviewers informed an unaware O'Connor that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have seen his work. To his delight he responded, "I actually didn't know that ... I mean, that's great. I love that. I'm quite pleased. I mean, any audience for 'The Crown' is great." O'Connor added that he's happy to have anyone watch the show at all. He said, "I'm so glad that they watched it and I think it's one of those shows that's just touched a lot of people. So, the more, the merrier."

In the same interview, he revealed that playing Prince Charles was an unforgettable experience. He said, "It was great. I've had the time of my life making it. It was two of the most special years." O'Connor also shared that he's officially put his portrayal of the royal to bed and is excited to see Dominic West take over his role. "The Crown" fans will most likely see the new cast in action in 2022 (via Town and Country Magazine).
