How Princess Beatrice's Baby Name Choice Honors The Queen
Princess Beatrice is a mom! The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, welcomed her first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on September 20, 2021, and to say the royal family is delighted to have another addition to the ever-growing British monarchy is an understatement. "The new baby's grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care," Buckingham Palace said in a statement (via BBC).
Although this is Beatrice's first child with her hubby of over a year, she is the step-mother of Mapelli Mozzi's son from a previous relationship, Christopher Woolf, who they affectionately refer to as "Wolfie" — and from the sounds of it, the royal bunch is more than ready to settle into being parents of two. "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother, Christopher Woolf," the statement from Buckingham Palace concluded.
Now that Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi have had nearly two weeks to spend with their new bundle of joy, the couple has released the name of their adorable baby girl, and of course, her full name pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in a sweet way.
Princess Beatrice incorporated the Queen in her baby's full name
In a tweet written on October 1, 2021, Princess Beatrice revealed that she and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi named their baby girl Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi — her middle name, Elizabeth, obviously honors Queen Elizabeth II in a meaningful yet subtle way. "We are all doing well and Wolfie is the best big brother to Sienna," she added alongside an adorable picture of baby Sienna's footprints.
Social media users couldn't get enough of the cute name of the tiny new royal, with one Twitter user writing, "OH what a BEAUTIFUL name @yorkiebea! Your whole family is BEAUTIFUL! Wishing you ALL happiness and joy in all your many adventures (and inevitable challenges [winking face]) ahead! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!" Another echoed that sentiment, adding, "Absolutely love the name, a very modern and cosmopolitan name and goes beautiful with her Great Grandmother's name. Hope you and Edoardo make many special memories throughout your lifetime with your new daughter Sienna and her big brother Christopher (wolfie)."
Beatrice's husband also made an emotional statement of his own on Instagram, writing that their life together "has just begun" with the addition of Sienna and that he is feeling "so much love and gratitude" for his family. Congratulations to the happy couple!
