The Truth About Yvonne Strahovski's Family

Yvonne Strahovski is making massive waves in the media world. Born and raised in Australia by two Polish immigrants, the actress has reached new heights of success in recent years (via IMDb).

Shortly after graduating from Sydney's School of Contemporary Arts, Strahovski landed her premier TV role on an episode of "Double the First: Fear Factory." Her first foray into feature films came a few years later with a role in 2006's "Gone," in which her stellar performance caught the attention of Hollywood casting directors and prompted a move to Los Angeles. According to IMDb, she landed her breakthrough role as a recurring character on "Chuck" within just three days of being in the U.S. Her work on the hit spy drama soon made her a starlet in her own right.

These days, most people know Strahovski from her bone-chilling portrayal of Serena Joy Waterford on the TV series "The Handmaid's Tale," a role she's played since 2017 that has earned her two Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (via IMDb).

Fans of the show likely know all about Strahovski's fictional household, a dysfunctional bunch that includes Fred Waterford (played by Joseph Fiennes), June Osbourne (played by Elisabeth Moss), Nick Blaine (played by Max Minghella), and Rita Blue (played by Amanda Brugel). But what do you know about Strahovki's real-life family unit? Keep reading to find out what the stunning Australian actress' life is like behind all the cameras.

Strahovski announced her marriage on the red carpet

According to Amo Mama, Yvonne Strahovski stayed relatively mum about her personal life until recent years. For example, although she'd been dating American actor and producer Tim Loden since 2009, she didn't actually announce the relationship until the pair had gotten hitched. She shared the big news on the Emmy's red carpet back in 2017.

Speaking to E! about the wedding, Strahovki's husband said, "It was very hot. "We had a heatwave, but we all made it through. We all did some dancing at the end of the night. It was fantastic" (via Youtube). The happy couple went on to share that the special day had taken place in Northern California. "We ended up jumping into the lake in our suit and gown to cool down. It was just ridiculously hot," Strahovski said.

According to IMDb, Strahovski's other half has 11 acting credits to his name in addition to 3 producing credits, including on 2017's film "Extinction." In 2010, he even had a small role in "Chuck" alongside Strahovski. Perhaps the set served as their meet-cute!

The couple gave birth to their son in 2018

After getting married, Yvonne Strahovski and her husband wasted no time starting a family. According to Glamour, the Australian star discovered she was pregnant when she was halfway through the filming of Season 2 of "The Handmaid's Tale." "I really just didn't want my character, my job, or anything to do with 'The Handmaid's Tale' infiltrating this baby inside of me," she told the outlet.

If you've seen the show you can easily understand how triggering and morose the set must be. "So, I was always envisioning him, growing inside of me, separate in this safety bubble that nothing could touch," she says. "No matter what kind of emotion I was portraying on camera, I just really tried to separate it. I mean, that's really all I could do."

In October of 2018, Strahovski and Loden welcomed their son, William, into the world (via Amo Mama). A mere seven weeks later, she headed back to work on the set of "The Handmaid's Tale." She reportedly revealed her reasoning for returning to work so quickly, naming both the success of the show as well as its important contribution to the global debate surrounding women's rights. She later mentioned that production on the season had already begun around the time she gave birth, so the rest of the cast and crew had been waiting patiently until she could join.

She is the ultimate working mom

Despite the swift transition from maternity leave to the TV set, Yvonne Strahovski somehow made it work. According to Amo Mama, Tim Loden brought baby William to the set every day of filming so that he wouldn't have to be far from his mom and his wife could breastfeed whenever needed.

However, this period still proved to be what Strahovski called one of the "most challenging" times in her career, telling Glamour: "Coming back to work with a newborn and all the sleep deprivation that comes with that, plus I was breastfeeding. And then knowing that I was going to be hit pretty hard with my scene work, because they have backed it all up."

But having William nearby also counteracted the weight of her character and the show. "I was running in between set and my trailer, breastfeeding on demand and doing scene work. It was crazy being all 'miserable Serena' and then coming in and having so much joy looking at my baby, and then going back into the scene and then coming back again and breastfeeding and being happy." Strahovski definitely managed to show up to give a mind-blowingly gripping performance.

The actress is expecting baby No. two

While walking the red carpet for the premiere of her 2021 film "The Tomorrow War" — which she stars in alongside Chris Pratt — Yvonne Strahovski made yet another big announcement. "I'm super excited to be here, and this is a very special moment," she told ET (via Harper's Bazaar). She went on the say that she's "about halfway" through her pregnancy and is expecting a son. "I'm having a boy! You heard it first!"

At the event, the 38-year-old wore a figure-hugging cream turtleneck Brandon Maxwell gown that showed off her growing baby bump, and she completed the ensemble with diamond earrings and a chunky gold bracelet, per People. She looked absolutely glowing.

Considering the premiere took place at the end of June, the actress is likely due sometime before December. It seems Yvonne Strahovski's family and career are growing at the same rapid rate, and we could not be happier for her.
