Everything We Know About Meghan Markle's New Animated TV Series

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry founded Archewell, an organization made up of the Archewell Foundation (an impact-driven non-profit), Archewell Audio (an audio-first production company that has an exclusive partnership with Spotify), and Archewell Productions (which has a partnership with Netflix).

So far, Archewell Productions has announced two projects: "Heart of Invictus," a docu-series focusing on The Invictus Games' competitors, and a new family friendly animated show, "Pearl," that Meghan is producing (via Archewell). David Furnish, Carolyn Soper, Liz Garbus, Dan Cogan, and Amanda Rynda are also involved in the project.

"I'm thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series," Meghan stated on the production company's website. While it seems the show is still in the early stages of development, there have been some big details released about it, including the name of the main character and the plot.

Meghan Markle's animated series will focus on the positive influence of historical women

Currently, Meghan Markle's new animated series has a working title of "Pearl," and according to Archewell Productions' site, "Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery, as she tries to overcome life's daily challenges." The story will also celebrate women in history, women who inspire this 12-year-old main character.

David Furnish, who is serving as an executive producer alongside Meghan, spoke with Hello! about working with The Duchess of Sussex on the project. "She's a fantastic collaborator, amazing leader. And we're just very, very excited to be working with, you know, someone as influential and as supportive as Netflix," he said.

Netlix's director of original animation, Megan Casey, went on to say that the series is "an exciting tale that weaves together fantasy and history" and that Pearl "learns to step into her own power when she embarks on a heroic adventure and meets important women from history along the way," (via MSN). As of publication, a release date for the animated series has yet to be announced.
