Whatever Happened To The Cast Of 7th Heaven?

The following article includes allegations of domestic abuse, child sexual assault, and drug use.

"7th Heaven," which premiered in 1996 on the WB, followed the trials and tribulations of the wholesome Camden family. Reverend Eric Camden and his wife, Annie, shared a total of seven children over the course of the series, from toddlers to teens. The show focused on family-friendly drama with gently faith-based lessons and moralizing, often tackling difficult subjects like drug use, teen pregnancy, and racism. The show lasted 11 seasons before concluding in 2007 and has held a lasting legacy as a pillar of the early days of the WB, alongside shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Dawson's Creek."

The Camden parents were played by Hollywood veterans Stephen Collins and Catherine Hicks, but the show introduced audiences to newcomers like Barry Watson and Jessica Biel, the latter of whom would become one of the show's breakout stars. The Camden family also had a host of friends and acquaintances appear on the show played by a mix of future stars, like Tyler Hoechlin, or already well-known celebs, like Haylie Duff. Some former "7th Heaven" cast members' lives have taken tragic turns, whereas others have continued to find success in Hollywood. Here's what the cast has been up to since the series wrapped.

Catherine Hicks pivoted from acting to activism

Catherine Hicks was a well-established actor by the time she appeared on "7th Heaven," having starred on shows like "Ryan's Hope" and in movies like the horror classic "Child's Play." Hicks played Annie Camden, mom to seven children and wife of Reverend Eric Camden. "7th Heaven" ended its run after 11 seasons and afterwards Hicks went on to do some additional acting work in mostly TV films, but as of 2023 declared herself officially retired, telling TMZ at the time, "I don't act anymore." She also made it clear that "7th Heaven" almost certainly wouldn't be getting the reboot treatment anytime soon. "The kids grew up, Stephen [Collins is] gone," she said. "Let it go." Hicks also told TMZ that since retiring from acting she's had a chance to spend more time with her daughter. "She never got me then, when she was little," she said. "It's really fulfilling."

In addition to spending more time at home with her family, Hicks has also gotten involved in politics and various causes. She has volunteered for Senator Adam Schiff's campaign, teamed up with the League of Women Voters, worked with the Los Angeles Homeless Action Committee, and become a trustee for the Hollywood Arts Council.

Stephen Collins' disturbing admission tarnished his legacy

Stephen Collins played Reverend Eric Camden on all 11 seasons of "7th Heaven." After the series ended in 2007, he continued racking up acting credits, including but not limited to TV series such as "Private Practice," "Scandal," and "Revolution." His career came to a screeching halt, however, after TMZ released audio in 2014 pulled from a tape where Collins confessed to his second wife, Faye Grant, that he sexually abused three underage girls between the years 1973 and 1994.

In 2014, Stephen Collins confirmed the disturbing allegations in a statement to People, adding, "I have not had an impulse to act out in any such way [since 1994]." The actor stated, "The publication of the recording has resulted in assumptions and innuendos about what I did that go far beyond what actually occurred. As difficult as this is, I want people to know the truth." He also noted he had apologized to one of the now adult women but learned through therapy that directly interacting with the victims may cause them more emotional harm rather than offer closure. In a separate interview with Katie Couric on ABC News' "20/20," Collins admitted to the encounters but denied being a pedophile.

After he and Grant divorced in 2015, Collins entered into another long-term relationship.  In the 2025 Investigation Discovery docuseries "Hollywood Demons," Dr. Drew Pinsky stated that Collins is in a relationship with a woman named Jennifer Nagel, a "7th Heaven" fan 40 years his junior; Collins did not participate in the documentary. According to a report in the Daily Mail, Collins and Nagel married in a small town in Iowa in 2019.

Jessica Biel went from girl next door to Hollywood girl boss

Jessica Biel played eldest daughter Mary Camden on "7th Heaven," opting to leave after Season 5 to shake up her image. She told the "Awards Chatter" podcast in 2018 that the squeaky-clean show wasn't necessarily a great fit for her at the time. "I did cut my hair and I got in a lot of trouble for that," Biel recalled. "I had to apologize to everybody, which is sort of the theme of my experience on '7th Heaven.'" Biel went on to act in a number of films including 2003's "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Illusionist."

The former child star also got into producing, beginning with the critically acclaimed 2017 series "The Sinner," which she also starred in. Before the show got picked up, however, she worried it might be time to hang up her Hollywood spurs. As she told "The Bright Side" podcast in 2024, "'[I]f this show doesn't sell, I don't know what people want, I don't know what to bring them. I don't understand this business anymore. I just don't get it anymore.'" Biel was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy for her performance on the show, and she has gone on to produce and star in other TV series, like 2022's "Candy."

In 2012, Jessica Biel married pop star Justin Timberlake, with whom she shares two children, Silas and Phineas. There have been reports that the couple's relationship is on thin ice in the wake of cheating rumors and a confirmed DUI on Timberlake's part, but they appear to be going strong regardless. On Mother's Day in 2026, Timberlake paid tribute to his mother and wife on Instagram, writing, "The greatest women I know."

Barry Watson faced health struggles before bouncing back

Barry Watson played eldest son Matt Camden full time in Seasons 1 through 6 and 9, while appearing as a recurring and special guest in Seasons 7, 8, and 10. In 2002, the same year his "7th Heaven" contract was set to end and possibly be renewed, Watson was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Though he took a step back from acting to focus on his treatment, Watson continued on the "7th Heaven" writing staff. The actor told Coping magazine in 2014, "I didn't think I was going to feel like it — and I didn't half the time, but having that normalcy was really good for me." As of this writing, he has been in remission since 2003.

Following "7th Heaven," Watson continued acting, appearing in movies like "Boogeyman" and "A Dog's Way Home," as well as two short-lived series, "What About Brian?" and "Samantha Who?" starring Christina Applegate. His last acting credit is in 2022's "Naomi," a superhero series from Ava DuVernay on The CW. He's also married to Natasha Gregson Wagner, daughter of the late Natalie Wood and stepdaughter of Robert Wagner. They share a daughter, and Watson is dad to two sons from a previous relationship.

Beverley Mitchell kept The Camden family talking

Beverley Mitchell played middle daughter Lucy on the series, growing her character into an adult who ended up married. After the show, she continued with acting work in shows like "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and holiday TV movies. She also appeared on reality shows like "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" and "Worst Cooks in America."

Nearly two decades after "7th Heaven" ended, Beverly Mitchell launched a rewatch podcast in 2024 with her costars David Gallagher and Mackenzie Rosman titled "Catching Up with the Camdens." As Mitchell told People, "[I]t's like we never left. We truly are family and I am thrilled to revisit some of my most cherished and sometimes embarrassing memories."

Mitchell is now married and shares three children with her husband, Michael Cameron. Mitchell opens up about much of her life as a mom on social media and has been candid about the difficulties of parenthood, including suffering a pregnancy loss of twins in 2018. She told People in 2016, "Of all the amazing things I've done in life, nothing has been more important. Being a mommy is the best thing I've done."

David Gallagher took a break and reconnected with onscreen family

David Gallagher played fourth child Simon Camden on "7th Heaven," the youngest brother until twin siblings came along later in the series. He took a smaller recurring role on the show in Season 8 to attend college, where he continued to act on smaller projects, before returning full time in seasons 9 and 10. Before the show, he was a working child actor, appearing in films like "Look Who's Talking Now," and "Phenomenon," both starring John Travolta. After "7th Heaven" ended, Gallagher continued with some acting work, with a number of single-episode appearances on series like "Bones" and "Criminal Minds," with his last credited appearance in a 2020 episode of "S.W.A.T."

He also cohosts the "Catching up with the Camdens" podcast but tends to keep much of his private life private. David Gallagher, who is unrecognizable today, revealed on Instagram in 2025 that he's now a dad of two, showing himself carrying his infant child in a stroller while walking alongside his older daughter.

Mackenzie Rosman has embraced life on a farm

Mackenzie Rosman played the precocious Ruthie Camden on all 11 seasons of "7th Heaven" (and remained precocious even after her younger twin brothers came along). After the series wrapped, she took on a few more acting roles in shows like "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and the TV movie "Ghost Shark, before appearing to step away from acting. She did shock fans in 2013 with a photoshoot for Maxim magazine when she was 23 years old, making it crystal clear that Ruthie from "7th Heaven" was all grown up

While Rosman, who now lives in a farm, has moved on from her child stardom days, she certainly isn't opposed to waxing nostalgic about "7th Heaven." Since 2024, she has been one of the hosts of the "Catching Up with the Camdens" podcast. She also is a mom to a daughter named Ophelia, who has appeared on the aforementioned podcast.

Rosman has been involved in fundraising and advocacy for cystic fibrosis research. Her stepsister, Katelyn Salmont, died from the condition in 2008, but made an appearance on "7th Heaven" at the urging of Rosman, who pitched series creator Brenda Hampton a storyline about the disease.

Tragedy struck Lorenzo and Nikolas Brino in 2020

Nikolas and Lorenzo Brino played twins Sam and David Camden, who were born during Season 3. Nikolas and Lorenzo, who stayed on "7th Heaven" for the rest of the series, were also multiples themselves, as they came from a set of quadruplets, three boys and one girl. While the Brino quadruplets all played Sam and David at first, eventually the roles went to Nikolas and Lorenzo only. "7th Heaven" is the brothers' only acting credit.

In 2020, Lorenzo died in a car accident at the age of 21. His sister, Mimi Brino, wrote a tribute to him on Instagram that read in part, "To my amazing and crazy brother. You might be gone but it's true when people say 'gone but never forgotten.' Saying that you were a blessing is an understatement. You brought light to so many lives and you did so much with the too short of a life that you had." As of this writing, Nikolas continues to lead a private life away from the public eye.

George Stults was surprised he lasted as long as he did on the show

George Stults joined the cast of "7th Heaven" in its 6th season as police officer Kevin Kinkirk, eventually becoming a series regular. His character dated and later married Lucy Camden. His brother, Geoff Stults, also appeared on the show, playing his onscreen brother, Ben.

After "7th Heaven," George continued to work in television, with appearances on roles like "Melissa & Joey" and "Zoo." He's also appeared in a string of TV movies, including several Christmas-themed films. His last credited role was in 2021, and he appears to maintain a more private life.

Like many of his fellow "7th Heaven" alumni, George has appeared on the "Catching Up with the Camdens" podcast. On a 2025 episode of the pod, he shared that he was pleasantly surprised when his character became a full-time regular on "7th Heaven." "I was supposed to be just a one-off boyfriend, I think," George said. "I had a blast every episode."

Adam LaVorgna left Hollywood for natural medicine

Adam LaVorgna played Robbie Palmer, the on-again-off-again boyfriend of Mary in Seasons 4 through 7 of "7th Heaven." After his role on the show, Adam went on to act in shows like "Law & Order" and "CSI: Miami." He struggled with drug use and sought rehab several times. Adam also turned to his faith. He told Movie Mom in 2015, "I always thought about God. If He were to look at me, would He be proud? And I decided to go back to church."

After a few more roles, including the faith-based feature "Masterless," Adam left acting and pursued medicine. He is now a doctor of naturopathic medicine, having obtained a degree in Canada where he appears to live. "I like seeing patients, I like working," he said on a 2025 episode of "Catching Up with the Camdens." "I just got to a point [with acting] where I was like, 'I don't like not being in control of my life, my career, and my finances, and you know, just waiting for something to happen." In 2025, he married his wife, Kat LaVorgna, and is also a college professor.

Haylie Duff's star continued to rise

Haylie Duff joined "7th Heaven" in the show's last two seasons, playing Sandy Jameson, the best friend of Simon's fiancée, Rose. Ditching her signature blond locks for a brunette 'do, the look was a stunning transformation for Haylie Duff.

By the time she joined "7th Heaven," Haylie, who is the older sister of former Disney Channel superstar Hilary Duff, was already a household name thanks to her work in films like "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Material Girls." Haylie had already gotten into the music game too, and she and her sister even recorded a cover of the Go-Go's hit "Our Lips Are Sealed" for the "A Cinderella Story" soundtrack. After "7th Heaven," Haylie continued to carve out a career for herself as an actor, singer, presenter, and influencer. She hosted "Haylie's America" on the Food Network, played Amber Von Tussle in "Hairspray" on Broadway, and directed her first feature in 2025, "Secret Life of a Good Wife."

In 2026, Haylie and longtime beau Matt Rosenberg announced their split. The former couple, who share two daughters, got engaged on April Fool's Day in 2014 after a year and a half of dating. Addressing their long engagement, Haylie told People in 2018, "We talk about it and think, 'Maybe now we're ready to do it' and then life happens and toddler happens. Maybe after the craziness of a new baby dies down we'll be ready to talk about it again."

Jeremy London faced allegations that derailed his career

Jeremy London was another well-established actor before his time on "7th Heaven," with leading roles in films like "Mallrats" and TV series like "Party of Five." His "7th Heaven" character, Chandler Hampton, appeared on the show in Seasons 7 and 8, initially introduced as a temporary fill-in minister while Reverend Eric Camden undergoes and recovers from heart bypass surgery.

London's career went through some major ups and downs after "7th Heaven," as did his personal life. His struggles with drug use, tumultuous relationship with his family, and a strange kidnapping incident all made headlines. In 2012, London, who was still married to second wife Melissa Cunningham, was arrested on domestic violence charges. He was also arrested on a domestic violence charge in 2018 in Jackson County, Mississippi, after a reported altercation with his third wife, Juliet Reeves. His team denied the allegations.

In the wake of the arrests and allegations, London's career never fully recovered. "Hollywood abandoned me and chose to believe lies about me," London said in a 2025 Investigation Discovery docuseries "Hollywood Demons" episode about Stephen Collins, per People. "I think one of the strangest things about the business is the world is watching, always, and it wants to eat you. And it wants you to fail."
