CBD Vs. Hemp Oil: What's The Difference?

If you're someone who is interested in health and homeopathic treatments and remedies, we're sure that you've heard about CBD oil and its benefits. However, because CBD is made from the marijuana plant, Cannabis sativa, many people get confused between CBD, marijuana, and hemp. All three are from the same family of plant and body, but not all are used in the same exact way.

Yes, hemp oil and CBD oil come from the same family, the hemp plant (Medical News Today). However, they are made from different parts of the plant (more on that below). Both CBD and hemp oil share the similarity, however, that both do not contain extreme amounts of THC, the chemical in marijuana plants that gets you high. Hemp oil contains no THC at all, while CBD usually does not. Instead, they have other benefits and are used by people for other uses and health benefits.

Here are the differences between the two — and the way that people use each one.

CBD oil vs. hemp oil uses

CBD oil and hemp oil may come from the same plant, but there are important distinctions between the two. Per Medical News Today, hemp oil comes directly from the hemp seeds. On the other hand, CBD oil is made from the leaves, stalks, and flowers of the hemp plant. In addition, both are used in complete different ways.

Hemp oil is jam-packed with fatty oils and acids, but the good kind of fat. Many people use hemp oil for cooking and culinary purposes because of this (via Good Hemp). It is also packed with omega, which is great for the brain, heart, and also for the immune system. Many companies who are organic actually prefer hemp oil over olive oil (hemp oil can also be ingested), because of the antioxidants and omegas, promoting good health benefits for consumers.

On the other hand, people gravitate towards CBD oil because it's known to have anti-anxiety and relaxation benefits for overall mood. Some CBD strains can contain THC, however, most CBD products do not (via Medical News Today). CBD oil is used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety solution.

While both CBD and hemp oils are sold at many health food stores and organic retailers, there are not a ton of studies and scientific research on both products. Therefore, before trying either, it's important to consult a specialist to ensure you are using the proper products for what you want and need.
